Re: Women's self defense

I've never been to one but I know many who have. The courses can't possibly teach comprehensive self-defense over a single weekend, but that's not the point. The point is to let women know the dynamics of attacks and what tools they have at their immediate disposal to save themselves. Popular media ...

Re: Terrorist attack in Berlin

Was it actually confirmed that the Christmas attack was terrorism? The article said that the German government isn't ruling it an act of terrorism. SpicyX... the U.S., supported by NATO and Germany, are currently bombing 7 middle eastern countries. Syria has been obliterated, their civilization is c...

Re: Weight Loss Surgery on Kids.

This makes me angry. The reasons for obesity are known. It has been spelled out loud and clear. High calorie, high sugar, nutrient deficient diets lead to obesity in children. Pre-packaged foods with artificial additives are filled with pseudo-estrogens which increase water weight and fat retention....

Re: Oh boy, it's Milo Yiannopoulos

A cursory look at his win reminds me of how shallow and superficial people have become with their mindless support of things. You don't need to have high level talent or time tested commitment to a form or cause in order to be called the best anymore, just popularity and how you play the social netw...

I might be ignorant in saying so, but isn't weight class the most important factor? If you're trans and weigh the same as other people in your gender/weight class, then what does it matter?

Re: Western Women Realize Their Men Suck [article]

Not to mention there are Muslim mid-east countries which are quite liberal, like Azerbaijan. Afghanistan and Iran were very liberal before the U.S. supported theocratic radicals taking over. Just google "Afghanistan in the 60's and 70's" and look at the disco imagery. The mid-east traditio...

Re: What bemuses you?

I'm bemused by people who drive like maniacs, only managing to shave 1-2 minutes off their day while endangering everyone in the process. I'm bemused by people who walk around in t-shirts in subzero weather. Are you just drunk or something? Equally bemused by people who put themselves through extrem...

Re: Unpacking The Concept of Feminist Erotica

It does exist, it just depends on what era you're looking at. Stuff used to be "feminist" that simply portrayed female characters in realistic, humanistic ways... you know, like real people? A lot of contemporary literature uses intersectionality (like LGBTQ and POC issues) to further defi...

I saw this and found it really exciting! I thought about Jurassic Park and extracting DNA, but of course they anticipated people thinking that and told us it's not possible.

OR SO THEY SAY.

Count on there being a secret dinosaur herd somewhere out there!

Re: Identity politics and political agency

Another thing that occurs to me is that a lot of identity politics are social or emotional contrivances, just like how people are inventing an idea of what harmony looks like in order to try implementing it on a wide scale. But there is always harmony. There can even be harmony within chaos. People ...

Re: Identity politics and political agency

Well, you know my thoughts on the status of men in society, so I won't get into all that here. I think the main problem with identity politics is that they aren't accessible to average people. A lot of it is trickle-down from ivory tower research that is divorced from ground level experience. The so...

The rest of your post was a non-sequitur to what I wrote except for some of the snippets below, which I'll answer. I am not certain if you know what chivalry is. Being respectful, kind, appreciative, thoughtful, brave and courteous when it comes to women or anyone else is a good thing. ... IMO, men ...

Re: All Rights Matter

Men have their own soul searching to do and they can't do that within feminism, though they can ally themselves with feminism as part of the search. The emasculation of men has nothing to do with the rise of women's empowerment. It has to do with lack of mature male modeling. Most venerated male rol...

It works if it's something like sexual harassment, or something lower key. If the attacker is seriously losing their shit then it could just make you a target as well. Re: Why It’s Dangerous to Tell Men to Be Persistent to Get Women to Sleep with Them

I'd heavily argue against the point that promiscuity leads to open marriages. From what I've witnessed first hand, read about, researched on, the leading cause is the realization that one person does not have to be everything for you and that their should not be a limit on what kind of relationship...

I use Firefox except for when I want to use Netflix. For some reason Netflix won't load in Firefox. Re: Male birth control study

A couple of the men who partook in the study did not become fertile again after the treatment was stopped, even after 12 months. You can't compare this to female contraception, the mechanism is completely different. When the pill for women first came out there were initial findings that it caused de...
