Re: Are you a good dancer?

I'm crap at anything formal, but I do freestyle dance pretty well when inspired in a live music setting. I can also dance with props (hula hoops, poi, once a tablecloth at a wedding, scarf, etc.) pretty darn well.

Re: what is your disease?

Stress! Because 1) I study it, 2) I embody it, 3) it is often transmissable between people, 3b) there's arguably currently an epidemic, 4) it physiologically fucks you uuuup all by itself, 5) but it also facilitates ALL THE OTHER DISEASES because fuck your immune system! Moral of the story, who want...

Re: when did you last encounter a raven?

Probably when I was at a zoo. I've never seen one in the wild that I recognized at the time.

The audiobook I most recently listened to was "The Mind of the Raven," though! Now I really want to see one.

Re: What games are you playing?

We're playing Seafall YAS! How do you like it? How long has each game typically been taking? I played Pandemic Legacy (same maker) last year and was SO impressed with it. The group I played it with decided not to do Seafall though, since we were playing on our lunch breaks one day a week, and we'd ...

Re: What animals are you afraid of?

Even though I realize it's pretty irrational, I'm a bit afraid of sharks. It's only because they're hidden until they're basically touching you, and I don't love things I can't see. After I had a false alarm once, I'm also afraid of bed bugs. I am about 90% better with stinging hymenopterans (bees, ...

Re: Weight Loss Surgery on Kids.

I do find this rather sad. While it's great that we have the medical advances to allow for surgical treatments of various health issues, they are always traumatic and risky to some degree, and thus not ideal. Still, it's an oversimplification to say that people are deciding against healthy food in f...

Re: What's the last craft supply you bought?

I got a little bird ornament from a dollar store that I drew on to make it look like a zebra finch for my building's Christmas tree. That doesn't seem all that crafty, though, so other than that, a magnet sheet that I use to make band/concert/etc stickers into fridge magnets.

XOL, since you came here to enrich your education, let's take a moment to unpack what's happened in this thread. I really don't understand the hostility. I was trying to be polite as possible and honestly I thought the proposition would create some interest because this is something that would be ta...

Re: What clubs were you a member of in High School?

Ugh so many. Marching band, jazz band, band council, Latin club, Gay-Straight Alliance, a political club, a literary arts magazine, Girl Scouts, Academic Challenge, National Honor Society, and Student Council but I quit that after like my sophomore year. I competed in horseback riding at a pretty hi...

And what beautiful feathers they are! This is SO cool!! I'm also just really surprised at how small the whole animal would've been. It's interesting trying to imagine a sparrow-sized feathered dinosaur that isn't just a bird.

Re: Have you ever failed a class?

Second semester Senior year of college I only had to take one more Phys Ed/Wellness class, but I signed up for two because I thought they both sounded fun. They didn't count towards my GPA and I got really busy with research, so I stopped going to Group Fitness, which hadn't lived up to expectations...

I'm so upset. I am not okay, but I also have quite a bit of relative privilege so I feel like my emotional paralysis is selfish. I feel like I should get over it and get to work defending those with even less power. I just feel so defeated. I'm also rather hung over. A bunch of my fellow evolutionar...

Re: Feeling really guilty. Need to confess

If you girls had a TA, who was pretty good and helpful for most of the semester, and when there was a month left of class he looked down your shirt in a way that made you uncomfortable, is there a way he could revindicate himself during the month that is left? at least a little bit? Not by any dire...

Re: What are you binge watching right now?

I don't watch a lot of TV/Netflix these days, but I did binge watch Stranger Things when I was sick a few weeks ago. I watched the last four episodes of The Walking Dead season 6 a few days ago so I could watch the season 7 premiere before it got spoiled. Honestly I might finally be done with it tho...

Re: what's your favorite thing that is pink?

My backpack. I was apprehensive about buying such a BRIGHT pink everyday backpack, but it was the only color available in the decent-quality style that was on clearance. Still, I think I'll replace it with something a little less bright when it wears out.

I'm pretty mediocre, but not terribly unpleasant to listen to, and even get a compliment now and again. In the past couple years, the super-low-effort things I've brought are carrot slaw (pre-shredded carrots + (c)raisins + cole slaw dressing, lol) and crock pot vegetarian chili (dump in canned ingredients and heat). The still-pretty-low-effort things have been rice pudding and cornbread casserole. La...

Re: kids' obsessions

I figure my cat obsession wasn't that weird since we had a cat and it was the only other non-adult living thing in my household, so I was pretty darn into that cat. Beanie Babies were a national (international? I'm not sure) fad, so an obsession with collecting them is no weirder than people getting...
