Re: Dredging Up The Rape Culture Conversation Part 4Billion

I've yet to see any evidence to show that modern feminism reduces rape. Sweden and Iceland are commonly agreed as the two most feminist countries in the world, yet: http://grapevine.is/mag/articles/2009/09/25/article-sex-crimes-in-iceland/ Sexual violence seems to be somewhat of an epidemic in Icela...

No they aren't. Producing feminine qualities isn't among the side effects.

I don't see it saying they took MRI's or any other form of brain scan in order to know that.

^ I took rowan's post to illustrate that progestogens are not "female hormones" since both men and women produce them, so your declarative statement that you would take none until women took "male hormones" for birth control doesn't work. In the quantities provided in these pill...

many tissues producing steroids, including the adrenal glands, testes , and ovaries, produce progestogens. Removing your balls, then? They produce it in minute quantities. In dose dependent larger quantities it is sometimes used in a Male to Female transsexual HRT regimen : https://www.susans.org/f...

Re: Final Fantasy XV: bros and fanservice

Here's another "odd" question. Is a sexualized character still problematic if the character weighs 400 pounds? Does the subversive nature of portraying that character as a sex object in a fat phobic society make it feminist? And I doubt it's enough to put more women in the industry. Becaus...

Change doesn't begin by every fan answering a weird ultimatum. This seems relevant. http://arctic-hands.tumblr.com/post/155030451723/sashayed-you-guys-you-must-stop-doing-this-you You're being a smartass. Curiosity is not "weird". Questioning is not an "ultimatum". I want to kno...

Re: Final Fantasy XV: bros and fanservice

Out of interest, if you had to choose, would you rather "endure" a female character with a fanservice look or have them written out or killed off?
and do you prefer non sexualized male leads over female leads with "sexualized" elements. Meaning skintight suits etc.

Really going to nitpick that video? They used one technique to check for consent that you didn't like. That's the only correct technique. Other techniques are based on misunderstandings of yes means yes. Emanuella Grinberg, a criminal justice special of CCN, explains that the Senate Bill 967 makes ...

Christina Hoff Sommers and Karen Straughan are funny looking men eh? Referencing those two around anything to do with Feminism (considering they're both anti Feminism) seems really silly. Of course they will disagree with the main points. Could probably link a video of Donald Trump saying the same ...

"There is a debate as to whether and man should retaliate if a woman starts hitting on him."

Yet there's curiously no debate about if a 250 pound linebacker should retaliate if a 140 pound MALE starts hitting on him.

Re: Body Positivity

The science clearly shows the most you can be to still qualify as healthy is the "overweight" category. Life expectancy goes down in the obese range, obese either by muscle or fat. Doesn't matter. The heart didn't evolve to pump blood to 300 pounds + of human. That's the bottom line.

I have no problem with fat acceptance or body positivity as long as they also realize obesity is a disease and that they are not healthy. it's analogous to someone with liver disease who has massive fluid retention of the gut (ascites). They should not be shamed or ridiculed or disrespected for thei...

If lots of people (feminists and not) are labeling stuff "feminist erotica," then the odds are that I would agree with them at least sometimes. That's especially true because I just said that I've read what I consider feminist erotica before . That's an ad populum fallacy, but you didn't ...

It doesn't? Even a cursory internet search turns up a lot of results, and I've personally read erotica I would describe as feminist in its portrayals of consent and the people participating. I'll see if I can dig up some titles. You do realize that just because someone labels something "Femini...

Re: Unpacking The Concept of Feminist Erotica

Feminist erotica doesn't exist. It's not a thing. Consent isn't what defines it. Very little of what gets criticized by feminist media critics is actually rape. Equal power isn't what defines it, as most feminist theory holds that as it doesn''t exist in an equal society, no matter what the erotia/p...

Mansplaining was meant to describe being talked down to because of your gender. Now it's really just used as a get out of jail free card to avoid debates feminists are losing. I've actually never seen it used that way before, do you have any proof? Or just a "this one time at band camp..."...

Nowhere are prosecutions changing because of enthusiastic consent. We are trying to change culture. A male student accused under yes means yes is out. Period. Expelled. Because if the college dismissed the case and the girl went to the media, they'd be in for a PR disaster. This shows an incredible...
