Re: Bilingual Toddler

I think my situation Ame about because I was in a small town, so if a teacher spoke French that's all that mattered. Not if they were good teachers, not if they liked kids, and later in high school not if they knew anything about what they were teaching. My grade one teacher was a demon, and didn't ...

Re: Are you related to any famous people?

My last name is an anglicized version of a city in Serbia Novi Sad. I have gotten stopped by people from that area of the world telling me what a beautiful city it is. I don't know my family's relation to it though. And my dad has mentioned we're probably related to Louis Riel since "Everyone i...

Re: Girlfriend Zone

Oh, and stupid. Personally, I'm just stupid. I had a friend literally tell me the only difference between a friendship and a romantic relationship for her was that she was if she was physically attracted to someone. A year later we started hooking up. Six months after that we stopped. And then I was...

Nothing really, other than he's now several provinces away. We left each other on good terms.

Re: Bilingual Toddler

Neither I nor my partner know enough of a language to offer a good bilingual experience to a young child. Seriously immersion schools do a great job! Funnily enough when my partner and I decided to try for a baby one of the first things he asked me was if I wanted to put our (at the time) hypotheti...

Re: Girlfriend Zone

I think sometimes people just really want to believe their friendship is genuinely a friendship and not a stepping stone. I've seen it with both genders, but generally (very generally) have notice women are more likely to get sad and still remain friends with the person they are romantically incline...

Re: The Gentrification of Standing Rock

I have a background in Anthropology, which has a history of being very racist, sexist (who's still pissed about the female viking warriors? I am!) and messing with cultures, so my education has very much taught me to not make rash judgements. If you want to argue ethics of any one act that's somethi...

Re: The Gentrification of Standing Rock

Why do you put a dual identity of being either right or wrong, superior or inferior, savior or saved, over actual issues of debate. Why do you put appearance over content? Who thinks like that at all? I don't think that face is more important than issues. Do you really think that rejecting any femn...

Re: The Gentrification of Standing Rock

Well, I'm happy these activists at least tried to. The problem is, "Tried to help" isn't necessarily the least activists can do. It can actively be harmful. If you're taking energy away from the people who are actually helping, if you're replacing a bad system was a different bad system. ...

Re: Women's self defense

Getting kicked in the groin would probably incapacitate me for a few moments. I imagine it'd be just as effective on most women assailants as men. Especially considering all the women I know who have been attacked and kneed/kicked their male attackers said they just laughed it off.

I still blame the older generation and can't wait for them to die off lol I wonder what all the actual questions were that they asked high school students. My partner and I have a fairly "traditional" set up in that we have one main breadwinner and they make most of the financial decisions...

Re: Women only companies. A disaster!

I just read the second blog post. Switch the genders and you have my work experience with men. I think if she's having so much trouble with women I suggest she start telling them they are acting unprofessional. I've never had a working relationship with a woman I didn't like that wasn't just a worki...

I feel kinda bad. Of the six or so stuffed animals my MIL gave us, one broke apart in our hands while opening it (before baby) and like three have broken apart in the act of getting it out of the drawer and to the baby. She's not even getting super cheap crap either, it all hand stitched made by bli...
