Re: Back to School!

Thanks everyone. Sorry I didn't get back sooner. Monday was a bit of a shit show, and they told me it'd take five business days to process my registration. Fortunately they did it much faster. I got all my top choices, first semester I'm just taking Philosophy and Social Criticism, which will be int...

Back to School!

So on Monday I have an appointment to reregister at my school. I'm pretty psyched about it because holy hell, I will get a degree if it kills me. The only down size is Monday is also course enrollment day for my year which means I may not get my top picks (enrollment starts at like 5am and my appoin...

I don't think I've ever eaten anything all that weird. A couple different kinds or reptile meat I guess (I have decided I do not like reptile meat)

My sister had shingles. Approximately 4 years after she got the chicken pox (c.p. At 5, shingles at 9)

I don't really have anything else to add.

Re: What was your first pet?

First solely mine was a bunch of fish. But I consider my cat Bob to be the first pet I had a real relationship with. He disappeared right after I graduated high school. Sometimes I think my parents got rid of him so it'd be easier to move into a rental, but he was an older outdoor cat. Best case sce...

Re: Happiest Baby on the Block

My mom was told to choose one book and use that instead of trying to make sense of all the conflicting books out there. I found wonder weeks really great but the library only had two copies and it was always popular so I never finished it. I was really unhappy with like 95% of the breastfeeding advi...

Re: Muscle cramps

I'm not sure how it works in the states, but to become a massage therapist here you need a certain number of hours preforming massage so MT Schools will often have clinics where students provide massages for a much lower rate. I know I just said find a professional you trust but if you've got a budg...

Re: Muscle cramps

Okay, finally spoke to my partner. He said, basically cramps are generally caused by three things. Your muscle can't work properly because of imbalance of magnesium & potassium, in which case you might have to fiddle around with those to get everything back how it should be. Your muscle isn't ge...

Re: Muscle cramps

My partner is a massage therapist, and after about ten years of work physical jobs my back was pretty fucked up. With a lot conjoling on his part and tears on mine he worked through a lot of the trouble. Considering the pain I was in after all the treatments I bet a good massage every so often would...

Re: what are you reading?

Just finished Jenny Lawson's Furiously Happy. I didn't like it as much as Let's Pretend The Never Happened, but still I'm glad I picked it up. It did make me more determined to get a therapist, so that's something. I also finished Peadar O'Guilin's The Call. Which was a really cool premise (Fairies ...

Just Can't Let It Go

There are parental wars (okay, I admit it, they are mommy wars) all over the internet. If it has to do with pregnancy/infants/children there are people fighting over it. For the most part, I just do not care. As long as your kid is fed, hygienic and untraumatized I figure you're winning. There are s...

Re: uninvited house guests

Silver fish and spiders get a pass. Beetles I generally don't worry about. Haven't had anything bigger to deal with in years (apartment on the 13th floor doesn't lend itself to vermin I guess.) Whoa whoa whoa. Silverfish?? Why? They're the worst. Do they have some redeeming value I don't know about...

Re: do you like your family?

My nuclear family I adore. My Family-of-Origin I love. My dad's side of the family I have nothing to do with, and my mom's side is alright but we're not hugely close (last interaction with my grandma I had was when I got angry at her for sending me a stupid chain mail (those still exist?) about how ...

Frog, pig, shark (dogfish) officially. On my own time with no scientific method I've dissected a starling. And I've cleaned animals before, not particularly good at it.

Re: What career should you have?

It's telling me to be an entomologist or psychologist. Both would be cool. Right now I'm just in a customer service type job. I'd be pretty happy doing just about anything else. Hoping to go back to school next year. After I get my degree I either want to go on and get my PhD and be a professor, or ...

Re: Promoting Gender Equality

You're example is an example of how difficult it would be to prove someone is lying. I agree false accusations are terrible, and it'd be cool if there was a way to persecute, but I'm willing to bet a lot of money that there are more unreported rapes than false accusations, and if that's the current ...

Re: What does your ideal bedroom look like?

I had a basement bedroom once that was really big, but painted dark purple and only one small (ground level) window. I effing loved that room. It was big enough for my bed, and a couch and a big stuffed chair. If I had lived there long term I would have added more bookcases and pillows. I love pillo...
