Re: RIP Jill Saward (Linked to news item)

Hi Tweek,

Thanks for sharing this with us. I was completely oblivious this advocate existed, I guess since I'm American? It's such a shame that she passed away at only fifty-one years old.

Who can forget Sting's "Every Breath You Take" aka The Stalker Song? Every breath you take And every move you make Every bond you break, every step you take I'll be watching you Every single day And every word you say Every game you play, every night you stay I'll be watching you and Duran...

Re: When are you superstitious?

whenever I get a bad nightmare right before waking up, I am apprehensive about going outside or doing anything with anyone, because it usually ends up turning into a crappy day. (thankfully that isn't the case today!) on the upside, I always feel a little excited whenever Friday the 13th comes aroun...

I give you props for making Zootopia #3 on your list. I think it's probably my number one favorite, but then again I haven't seen all of those you mentioned.

Re: what's the last movie you saw?

Rogue One was awesome, IMO better than Force Awakens by plot. :4houses: My only complaint is that it wasn't set in the future like Force Awakens was. even if it was a side plot from Force Awakens, it would have been cool and would have shown more creative initiative. there was a video game based on ...

I'm so sorry for that happening so close to your home, but I'm glad you and family are okay.

this kind of news doesn't seem to faze me now either. I just feel so helpless and wish there was more that I could do. it's like watching dominoes fall.

eww... thankfully no. when I got my kitten she had fleas (and later tapeworm), even though she was treated with stuff. I can't complain too much, though, since the kitten was completely free.

Re: development balalnce

I was proficient in fine/gross motor skills and cognitive development for my age, but I was further behind in speech/language development and social/emotional development. I caught up in them perhaps by ages 5-7, with vestiges of social issues lasting longer (like my temper). There was nothing inhe...

Re: What is a "feminist"?

I would hope that the first two are 'given' by now - anyone who DOESN'T think men and women should be treated equally is a moron, and anyone who thinks men are ever treated unfairly is a, well, a sexist man. So #3 is where all our efforts should lie. well....you'd be surprised. culture is a powerfu...

whenever someone says "I don't mean to sound [creepy/judgmental/offensive], but..."

ok the fact is that you *are* being that way right now. so instead of being in denial of what you're doing, own it or don't say anything at all.

It bemuses me that one of my coworkers is so in love with Christmas, that he wears an elf hat that bounces back and forth to the jingle bell song.

Hi there Galen! If you were to ever start a blog of your own, I would read it...your introduction was really entertaining and interesting. Welcome :) I have a kitten named Nyra who is grey and white. It's my first experience with cats (I grew up with a small dog), and she surprises me all the time!

Re: What is a "feminist"?

First, I'm going to caution that this is pretty specific to the US context, and we have many non-US members here. A mod might want to split this question off from the FAQ. That's perfectly fine with me; I wasn't exactly sure whether to put this in a separate topic or not to be honest. But, to the s...
