Re: Special Event for Women discriminatory?

Well I'm glad that, for people here, a women-only screening of "Wonder Woman" is their greatest annoyance!!

"Dick" Van Dyke in Mary Poppins! (If you're a real Londoner you'll know what I mean!)

Re: Hi, everyone:)

Thanks for your response! I don't have a boyfriend yet, I'm more thinking about how to find one and what to do once I do:) I have seen girls kind of put aside their values for a relationship and I want to make sure I never do that. Hi SkyBlue. Yes, the most important thing is not to compromise femi...

Re: Hi, everyone:)

Welcome SkyBlue! As regards keeping your fem values - a difficult question! If I say you have to just take it as it comes and react accordingly, you'll think I'm avoiding the problem entirely, and if someone said that to me (I'm a year older than you) I'd think so too. But I personally refuse to com...

Hi SadSmile123 - welcome to the boards. I seem to remember German restaurants in Australia when I was there - there were some towns with fairly large German (or ex-German) populations - can't remember the names of the towns (I'll google them). Lex x

Re: A critique of Feminism worth reading

Unfortunately, Feminism as an ideology has become synonymous with radical thinking, in which misandry is considered the norm Where? Feminism is not radical, it is simply an attempt to give us the rights that men have had for centuries, and I don't even believe that mainstream people think it is rad...

Re: Brexit

Good point Tweek - I really can't understand though why anyone thinks it will be better than it is now. OF COURSE it is not perfect now, but nothing can get better if we retreat to being an island with no connection to Europe - which is what will end up, even if people think it won't - because Europ...

This is indeed true, and FGM is particularly appalling. There is a website "world pulse" which is fighting for women in these situations.

Re: Why are men so ready to complain...

Because they have been raised with so much privilege that if one little thing happens that it a challenge to their "privilege" then they bitch and whine. I'm not saying all men do this but most that I have been around have. Totally agree feministpal. I'm taking on board everything other p...

Re: Why are men so ready to complain...

"My primary school had the trough. It was essentially a unisex room, with sinks on both sides as you went in but the back part was divided by a wall and one side had stalls for girls while on the other was the trough and a couple of stalls for the boys. If we looked, we could see the a boy pee...

Re: Why are men so ready to complain...

I can't use 'em and I hope men don't want to use them while I'm there! Why would you want men specifically to not use a washroom while you're there (in the theoretical unisex public restroom)? Because I don't relish men pointing penises at porcelain while I'm trying to wash my hands! An ex used to ...

Re: Why are men so ready to complain...

A urinal in a unisex bathroom? Well when I was 16 on a school trip to France and the one bathroom contained 2 urinals and 2 stalls, and boys actually used the urinals while we girls waited for the stalls - well OK that was fun. But then I was 16 - I'm not now really into unisex bathroooms with urina...

Re: Why are men so ready to complain...

That does sound weird having a urinal in a "unisex" toilet. In fact that means really there r 3 unisex ones and 1 for men which is unfair and sexist. The situation mentioned by antfancier makes sense - one of my housemates came across a similar in a cafe in Yorkshire with 1 toilet for wome...

Re: Why are men so ready to complain...

Let's be clear: we're not talking about a major railway terminus with queues for toilets, this is a tiny Cumbrian halt with few trains after 6.30 anyway. No there aren't any homeless people (sorry if that sounds elitist, but I've never seen any). Those cabins mentioned which open after a specific ti...

Re: Why are men so ready to complain...

Sorry Sonic - was a sort-of joke to finish off with. I think there MAY still be a longstanding law that says UK railway stations have to provide toilets for each gender seperately. Also, I've learnt from the woman who runs it that one idea is to move people as quickly as they can - she says, in fun,...

Taurwen - yes mutual appreciation society! No wasn't accusing you of claiming my ideas as your own - fortunately they're not original anyway. Do wish SOMETHING was done to make our lives less problematic though - not sure what - which is I guess part of the whole problem!

Why are men so ready to complain...

...when they THINK that for once they're getting a bad deal? [Warning : maybe a touch tmi!] The cafe in our local train station has got fed up with vandalism, especially in the toilets in the evening. So they've re-done them to give just one stall in the Ladies, and one urinal in the Gents. Fair eno...

Jeans with holes in. What's the point? I can tear holes in my jeans if I want - in fact I'd happily do it to anyone's jeans for £10 a time!
