Re: how do you organize wires?

Depends. Current-carrying wire: by type/function, then gauge. Decorative wire: by color, then gauge. Other wire: by location. Meaning, piano wire goes in the piano bench. Picture-hanging wire goes in the picture-hanging hardware can, wherever that may be at any given moment. And so on. I can't tell ...

Re: have you had lobster?

Yes, I've eaten lobster all my life. When I was a little kid, I only got the little claws and occasionally one of the big claws. For years I thought the best thing about lobster was sucking the meat out of the little claws and biting them to make the pincer on the end wiggle. Then one day, as an adu...

Re: Are you related to any famous people?

My adoptive mom is the direct descendant of Capt. Thomas Wiggin, the first governor of Dover Plantation, which later became part of what we now know as New Hampshire, does that count? The family tree reads like a who's who of colonial politics. We even have the uniform that one of her ancestors wore...

Well, my birth mother was a paranoid schizophrenic with hebephrenic episodes and a very complicated relationship with truth. So, yep, she told a lot of stories, ha!

Re: Quicktakes

My mom-type and her dog visit every weekend for an overnight. Just before they leave, my mom always rinses out the dog's water bowl and then carefully positions it upside down on the counter, on the edge of the sink, where it then drips little drops of dog-tainted water all over the place. Why can't...

Re: Total Solar Eclipse 2017

Oh, I want to do this so bad! I'm about 16 hours away from the nearest spot, about 20 hours from the best spots. I'm like, what the hell, let's just throw a tent in the car and hit the highway. Who needs a fancy hotel? So far all of my friends are old and stupid and won't agree to a little road trip...

From what I can determine, based on the fact that everything is either too big or too small, I wear a women's size 8.23777 on my left foot and a size 7.8935571 on my right.

Re: what's your favorite adhesive?

You know that weird stuff that holds junk-mail credit-card type things to paper? It's sticky and rubbery and likes to retain its shape? I LOVE that stuff. It's like these things but holds the stick way longer!! If I had those I would never get anything done because I'd be spending all day throwing ...

Re: What is your favorite number?

My favorite number is 5, but how come no one ever asks about my least favorite number?

My least favorite number is 2 because it's a killer of primes by way eliminating every even number, and yet even though it's an even number itself, it still gets to be a prime number. What a goady asshole.

I can just imagine the bees filling out their course evaluations. "Professor B is cool and I loved the field trips but he's a bit set in his ways--kept going after the farthest balls instead of the TOTALLY OBVIOUS REALLY CLOSE balls. Duh!"

Re: How comfortable do you feel asking about someone's race?

I love hearing about how people were raised, what kinds of things shaped them in life, etc., so to me, a person's race, and how she sees that as having shaped her (or not), is a fascinating thing. I would find talking about snow less interesting than hearing about what it's like to be (or look) Chin...

Thank goodness it wasn't your middle finger, though. Imagine all those people you'd no longer be able to double flip off.

Re: How comfortable do you feel asking about someone's race?

I'm mixed race. It's subtle, but detectable in my features. Most white people tend to assume I'm white, and don't ask. People of color, especially others who are mixed race, almost always ask, typically something along the lines of: "Wow you have an amazing profile (or sometimes: cheekbones). W...
