Yep! Age twelve, never looked back. I had a bit of a wild ride up through my late teens, and spent the next ten years or so recovering. My life has been pretty perfect since then, and I couldn't be happier now, so it all evened out.

Rocky Mountain oysters. A long long time ago, when I was still a kid. All I really remember about it is that they were very chewy.
Hi and welcome! I just re-read The Bone People by Keri Hulme and was once again amazed at what a great book it is. It might be a little too intense for light summer reading, but I recommend it every chance I get to anyone who'll listen!
I get cramps in my calves and arches at night when I don't keep up on taking my magnesium and/or potassium supplements. For me the sure-fire instant cure is to hobble downstairs and drink several tablespoons of dill pickle juice. It's gross, but when your foot won't uncurl, drinking a bit of pickle ...
Oh, jeez, we're talking about spiders? I thought we were talking about, you know, people dropping by unannounced. I didn't notice the actual question about creatures...was just responding to the thread title about uninvited house guests. Which, of course, I picked "Kill" for.

I haven't been on mumsnet in a couple months, but I, too, was surprised at how much anti trans stuff there was last time I was there. I can't let myself read those threads. When I visit, I just burrow down in the Pokemon and sweary threads, with occasional forays to the Litter Tray to see if anyone ...
The thing I like best about my blood relatives is that they all had died by the time I turned thirteen. Whereupon I immediately began collecting surrogate moms and aunties and big sisters and girlfriends and such to create my chosen family, which is basically the best family ever. I adore my primary...
The first time I ever took a bus was back in the 80s when I was twelve and running away from home. Before that, I'd led a weirdly insular life, so even though I knew the general protocol, I was flustered by the details (exact change, putting the money in the thingee instead of giving it to the drive...
Yesterday morning, before going in for semi-emergency laser surgery on my eye to drill a hole through the iris. Today I can still see, and the pressure in my eye has dropped, so hooray, my wish came true!

Depends. Current-carrying wire: by type/function, then gauge. Decorative wire: by color, then gauge. Other wire: by location. Meaning, piano wire goes in the piano bench. Picture-hanging wire goes in the picture-hanging hardware can, wherever that may be at any given moment. And so on. I can't tell ...
Yes, I've eaten lobster all my life. When I was a little kid, I only got the little claws and occasionally one of the big claws. For years I thought the best thing about lobster was sucking the meat out of the little claws and biting them to make the pincer on the end wiggle. Then one day, as an adu...

My adoptive mom is the direct descendant of Capt. Thomas Wiggin, the first governor of Dover Plantation, which later became part of what we now know as New Hampshire, does that count? The family tree reads like a who's who of colonial politics. We even have the uniform that one of her ancestors wore...
Well, my birth mother was a paranoid schizophrenic with hebephrenic episodes and a very complicated relationship with truth. So, yep, she told a lot of stories, ha!
My mom-type and her dog visit every weekend for an overnight. Just before they leave, my mom always rinses out the dog's water bowl and then carefully positions it upside down on the counter, on the edge of the sink, where it then drips little drops of dog-tainted water all over the place. Why can't...

Oh, I want to do this so bad! I'm about 16 hours away from the nearest spot, about 20 hours from the best spots. I'm like, what the hell, let's just throw a tent in the car and hit the highway. Who needs a fancy hotel? So far all of my friends are old and stupid and won't agree to a little road trip...
From what I can determine, based on the fact that everything is either too big or too small, I wear a women's size 8.23777 on my left foot and a size 7.8935571 on my right.
You know that weird stuff that holds junk-mail credit-card type things to paper? It's sticky and rubbery and likes to retain its shape? I LOVE that stuff. It's like these things but holds the stick way longer!! If I had those I would never get anything done because I'd be spending all day throwing ...
