Damn you, cats

Postby Bork » Sat Jul 7, 0:09 2012

My nose is itchy and running, and I want to take a fork to the inside of my throat and scratch until there's nothing left that itches.

I guess I am officially allergic to cats. And it's so unfortunate, because kittens are just so adorable. But at least I'm not allergic to dogs - I'd have to go on immunosuppressants.

What's everyone else allergic to?

I used to be just allergic to amoxicilin or something like that. But since then, I've developed a sensitivity to dairy, water, fatty things, etc. I'm allergic cats and dogs as far as I know. Allergies suck!!!

Cats. I live with one at the moment as well. I was okay for a while, my room is a cat free zone, but I've been staying in the living room for a while now while we try to take care of a bug problem in my bedroom, and the cat lays on all my stuff so I've been pretty miserable.

I'm also lactose intolerant. Beyond that, nothing comes to mind. Well, I do have other seasonal allergies, pollen, cedar, perhaps a couple others.

Cats make my eyes itch.
Pollen, grass, etc - basically being outside in the spring/summer = sneezing and stuffy nose for me. Ugh. Zyrtec seems to work pretty well at the moment though.

But take heart, Bork - you can still look at adorable pictures of kittens, like these: http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/4yroOy/:h6gN02-J:GBkF9Ci@/accidentalmommies.com/every-cat-should-have-a-dog/

I'm only allergic to some checmical-stuff so its pretty easy to avoid (jsut don't use regular shampoo and moisteriser or make up!), and depending on how heavily treated the water out of the tap is- I can be allergic to that too. Which is always fun- coming out in a rash every time you shower.

Oh, and beef gelatine. Again a really easy thing to avoid. i just can't eat marshmellows or jelly babies.

The only thing I'm allergic to is a form of antibiotic. It basically means that I have to be very careful to plant things on me (usually in my wallet) that say "I'm allergic to X" in case I'm hospitalized while unconscious.

Of course, there may be others. And others may well develop, considering the level of air pollution in the place I live.

I'm only allergic to pollen/seasonal type stuff, and Clariton usually takes care of that.

I cant believe I overlooked this thread.
For my entire childhood I took five allergy shots for just six things I was allergic to.
trees(all of them)
grasses (all of them)
weeds (all of them)
dander and molds (anything with hair, anything that grew that wasn't a tree or weed)
environmentals (all he things that make up dust that aren't on the list above)

They gave me the skin prick tests when I was 5 and I reacted to everything but raspberries and ryebread.

Now as an adult I only suffer if I stick my face in things(or winds blow unusual directions) that are highly reactive like a dogs fur or a fresh mowed lawn. Yay for science!

I'm allergic to some kind of pollen. This year it's not been that bad, partly because I've discovered hayfever-medicated eyedrops, and partly because we've had massive rain and flooding in the UK which is keeping the pollen down ...

I'm allergic to sulfa medications- I found out after a bout of bronchitis where I was prescribed the antibiotic Bactrim and broke out in hives all over. I kept having hot flashes and cold flashes. It was pretty terrible.

I'm allergic to certain anaesthetics apparently, from my childhood medical logs. Hopefully not all of them!

Awww... being allergic to cuteness sucks.
Today I was at my neighbors and she has a tiny littly baby kitten.
It walked up to me while I was eating alphredo.
She took a noodle from my bowl, and went in the corner to nibble on it.
I melted.

Also... I'm allergic to shelllll fishhhh. My favorite. :(
