Radical Feminist, Militant Atheist

Postby BlackHorse » Tue Jul 10, 9:45 2012

Hi people,

Well I’ve joined this website thingy because I want to get engaged in more feminist debate and hopefully discussions here will translate to action. I tried my local feminist network as they seem to be a clique, bent on bullying those who disagree with the unelected leaders of the group. They also take no action and failed to do ANYTHING about hooters being opened in the area; alas I have given up with them and thought this might be a place where I can sink my teeth into some good debate.
One of the main reasons I joined is because I am having a problem explaining to men why using prostitutes is wrong and have encountered some worrying reactions when I have shared home office statistics regarding abuse and trafficking, this industry is completely glamorised and using prostitutes is normalised, no-one is sharing with the facts regarding the nature of the sex industry with young people. I needed a local group to offload and debate, but they don’t do debate. This topic is something I intend to bring up at some point on a forum to collect some points of view. However collecting points of view from the general public has caused frustration which prompted my involvement here.
Another thing that has led me to get involved here is the changing nature of our society, as a multicultural one. I am interested in how feminists intend to adapt their approach, theory, or whatever, to be inclusive of different cultural barriers to female equality. This is a debate that I find amusing and somewhat predictable, yet I still enjoy sitting on the fence and watching.
Another good point about talking to some humans is learning and maybe, but probably not, changing some opinions myself.
I’d first like to apologise for my obvious specific learning disabilities, hopefully people will understand and attempt translate my jibberish into something with meaning.
Well anyway yeah speak soon folks.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that i'm none of the things in the title of my post, there are just accusations I get for wanting equlaity and for not being religious and saying that I don't accept 'God says" and a legitimate reason to believe something. Other wise you may think i'm a bit loopy.

Welcome to the board! People come here for many different reasons - you're very driven by issues. I hope you find yourself at home - in my experience, if you offer smart things to say, you'll get smart agreement and smarter disagreement.
