Knitted hat!

Postby kelsa » Sun May 13, 9:33 2012

I knitted a hat over the last two ish weeks! My nana taught me. I learned how to knit at Mormon Camp (long story) but didn't know how to purl. Or cast on. Or bind off. Or increase/decrease. Or uhm, anything else. So I spent some time knitting long shapeless things I called scarves and "door cozies" then stopped for years, but I've been on a "I need to learn practical skills!" binge and can only weld so much, so knitting it is!

Here's the hat (and me!) Its not exactly gorgeous but its from a 1940s pattern from my Nana's FIRST KNITTING BOOK. I'm doing one more for my girlfriend and then starting on a sweater. And yes, I made those pom poms on top, the old fashioned way with cardboard and determination.

that's a cute hat. I'm am jealous of your warp & weft.

Of all the practical skills I've acquired knitting is one that's still on the list. I need to find someone to show me.

Hat!

I especially like the shape of the hat, since it's more narrow at the top than a domed hat. Your (well hand-crafted) pom poms make that interesting. Way to craft!

Hooray, an excellent hat!
