Pool! Train! WOOOO!

Postby DWH » Tue Aug 7, 1:18 2012

How did I not know that there's an awesome 50 meter competitive pool with dirt cheap entry fees here in LA? Probably because it's a massive city and I was looking in west LA and not towards downtown, but I was looking at the stops on the Expo Line (which is our new train that I am SO EXCITED to have, and I am riding to SIGGRAPH this week sometime), and discovered that there is this place called the Expo Center, and they have competition pool there that, from the photos on the website, at least, look very nice. I shall have to investigate this magical realm in person and see if it's at least a non-scary place; they offer lap swimming at times I can go, for prices that are lower than the Culver City pool, and TRAIN. I HAVE A TRAIN AND I CAN RIDE IT AND THAT'S EXCITING.

Anyway, I've been wanting to get back into swimming, and have been dragging my heels, and this might be the place to do it. The price is certainly right. Woooo, pool train. That also drops me off right by work, so it's pretty much just perfect. As long as it's not sketchy as hell, you know.

Yay pool! Isn't swimming awesome! I'm jealous of the 50 metre pool- the biggest one here is a 25 metre. And better public transport is always good!

Why not swim where they held the Olympics?

Just south of USC is the colleseum and just south of that is the JC argue swim stadium that costs $2 with a LA County library card and many time will let you swim for free. The neighbor hodd isn't great but the bus stops a block away and there is a heavy USC campus cop presence there most of the time.

Monk, it's the same place. And I am SUPER EXCITED. Like, I may not make it to the end of the week without going swimming. I have my TAP card locked and loaded, and I rode it to the convention center today, and it was AWESOME.

Yay awesome train that goes to awesome places!
