Name that witch!

Postby newlydiscovered » Fri May 11, 19:24 2012

So I mentioned a little while ago I got a job as a character waitress at a witch-themed theatre restaurant (which, by the way, has turned out to be basically the most awesome job ever) and I had to come up with a name. I ended up calling myself 'Isadora', which I think it pretty and witchy and suits me, but I'd really like to have a witchy last name too! Some of the other names are really tacky (but awesome) puns like 'Barry D'Alive' or 'Kitty Hawk' and some are just witchy sounding; 'Mythica Britches' or 'Violet Vilent'.

Anyway, Isadora needs a last name! Suggestions?

Stevens! :P

Isadora is a great name though. Go you! I wish I had something awesome to offer, but I am no good with names, sorry :( I'm just thinking of morgan le fay, or other characters from arthurian myth. I kind of like the sound of belacqua after isadora, but there's not really any witchy significance. But um, hopefully someone can come up with something better!

Also we need pictures of you in your witchy getup. Assuming those don't already exist and I'm a terrible human being.

I'm not familiar with witchy lore or what witchy names are supposed to sound like, but these are some totally random ideas off the top of my head:

Isadora Webb
Isadora Mayfil
Isadora Arodasi (Isadora backwards, hurr hurr)
Isadora Laluna
Isadora Bull ;)

Well, newly is pretty adorable.

I think black goes pretty well with isadora but maybe that's a bit too cliche.

As it so happens, such pictures do exist!

You can see my whole outfit in this one (and one of the other girls) and my new makeup from tonight in this one (complete with brand new feather eyelashes, which I love).

There is already a witch who's last name is 'Von Kaos' so I don't think I can have another Von surname, but I'm loving all the suggestions. Keep 'em coming!

You could name her Isadora Tabenna after the Christian saint!

I really really like this one. It rolls off quite nicely and it almost sounds like an incantation when you say it out loud.

Definitely rocking the witchy outfits!

Anyway, let's try some more witch names. Desplora (bad pun)! Maybe Deplore to make it slightly more serious. Nefertiti? Neferi? Nefarien? Vivienne? De molay or Dulot, if you want a name based on historical "witches". I think Dulot works better with Isadora. Malattia (italian for malady)... I think I'm done for now!

I type of like the audio of belacqua after isadora, but there's not really any witchy importance. But um, hopefully someone can come up with something better.

Oh hey you guys, update: I went with Isadora Innamora (the meaning kind of suits my persona, I think). Then recently one of the guy's at work told me that a kid who came in for his 13th birthday had left a thank you message to me on the work facebook page, and I might want to go acknowledge it. So I made a facebook page (most of the staff who've been there for a while have one for their witch character). It's here if anyone wants to check it out/befriend me. It's a work in progress, I feel like I need to fill in the 'about me' section but I'll get there. So thanks for your help! :)

What a creative selection! I like the alliteration/rhyming aspect to it, plus the somewhat witchy flavor. Do you wear pointy hats when working at the restaurant? I can see how that would get in the way when serving food. ;)

The pointy hats are fairly easy to work with when compared to the corsetry. I mean I love corsets and all but they're not exactly ideal for working in. I guess it helps me fit through the tiny spaces between tables though...
