I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.

My greatest achievement might be to stop hurting myself. Yay willpower!

But I'm tempted to state something else:

I seem to be able to invoke good mood in people, and make them smile and feel good. I think THIS is the single greatest achievement I ever had and will have.

Hmmm, let's see. I hiked 70 miles of the Grand Canyon in a week. I wrote a router from scratch in hardware. I learned all the math required for my major before I even started college. But I also saved my little brother from certain death when we were kids. I think that one wins.

Greatest accomplishment so far? Getting my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, man. That was a hard-won diploma, and I earned that sucker. Oberlin sometimes eats people, but it didn't get me!

Two things.

One, I played Alfie Doolittle in My Fair Lady and I loved every minute of it.

Second, I seem to have a gift of being able to help people with problems, People just tell me for some reason, and I seem to be able to help. I dunno. It's still weird to me.

I'm gonna have to say that my greatest achievement so far is surviving the past 18 years of my life. Seriously. I don't have as cool of situations as Monk, but still being alive (and sane) feels like quite the accomplishment right about now.
Sometimes life sucks and when it does, just say "Fuck you life!" and then wait for life to get over itself. While you wait, smile. That pisses life off.

I pwned my first year of college. I mean, I didn't get straight A's, but I became way more confident in my ability to think about and discuss important things. And one of my professors submitted my term paper to the annual contest for such things, and even though it didn't win, the fact that she chose mine over everyone else's in the seminar was pretty cool.

Also I asked out my first real boyfriend and he's everything I could have hoped for and more. :)

I felt uncomfortable when people congratulated me for getting a college degree, but now I'm starting to feel a little proud of it. I hung in there, got it done early. I'm pretty proud of supporting myself and not asking for money from my family. It was rough at first, but I'm happy where I am. I guess I haven't really achieved anything that huge just yet. I'll be happy when I get my master's, but not proud because it might not get me a job.

I think my biggest achievement will be landing a desirable, full-time job. I'm not holding my breath, though.

Being good at my job, I'm known around the unit for being a hard charger who never gets discouraged when some big snafu gets in the way. I just keep tenaciously pushing forward until the objective is done.

hmm.. supporting myself, and going to Africa. Ok I didn't accomplish much while Iw as there, but the majority of people were there on their parents money, or loans. I have zilch debt and paid for Africa and all of uni since myself!

The things I feel most proud of are the things I accomplished amidst life struggles- graduating high school (2 years late, but I did it!), getting on the deans list for the first time in my university career while getting over a bad breakup, moving across the country by myself to attend school, leaving an abusive relationship, and completing my first oil painting.

I was unable to post in this thread for the longest time. But now I'm fairly comfortable saying that I've successfully made it through to the other side of major depression. Everything got a lot worse before it got better and there were several moments that I thought would be my last. I was already fortunate enough to have very supportive parents but now I also have surrounded myself with intelligent and equally supportive friends (+ extended family, SO, and fun coworkers). There are so many other factors that enable me to function properly these days that simply weren't open to me before: found the right therapist, finally taking the right medication, less financial hardship, an intrinsically motivating job, etc.

I kept trying, kept fighting, kept looking for solutions, and I'm very lucky to be alive.
