Austin, Texas and I love it. Texas is a big place, all parts of the state are different but I love the cultural diversity, food, certain landscapes, low cost of living, friendliness of people, and the weather. I dislike the conservativeness, but Austin is an oasis so I feel at home here.

Right now, I'm living in Preston, England, which is OK. People are nice and stuff, but it seems like the only thing to do around here is go out and get drunk, and since I'm not into that there's not much to do. Or maybe I just haven't found the other things to do yet.

Originally I'm from Michigan, which I didn't like very much at all. Full of snow and homophobes, neither of which I like.

I don't know where I'm going to go next... maybe California...

Los Angeles, California. I haven't really decided if I actually like it yet, but I guess I don't actively dislike it. I suppose I should come up with some sort of opinion on the matter...

I kind of miss Michigan, though. It had weather. The snow was lovely, you really appreciated spring when it came, and summer rain is one of the most glorious things ever. Fall leaves, too. I'm a seasons girl, and those aren't really found around here.

Ventura, a bastard stepchild of LA down a hill a 45 minutes away, Port Hueneme specifically. It's a relatively quiet military town right on the beach, maintained mostly by the naval base of the same name. I really like Port H, and Ventura or Camarillo is about 5 minutes in either direction if I need a good store. Oxnard sucks.

Better than when I lived in Riverside or Victorville though.

I happen to live in the buckle of the Bible Belt. Specifically, northeastern Louisiana. It's the kind of area where the "big cities" an hour away are unheard of elsewhere. It's a college town, so it's not that bad. Sometimes.

Everyone's so darned elitist, though. And not the "I'm smarter than you" kind. The "I'm richer and closer to Jesus than you" kind.

It's okay. I've lived here my whole life, and if I go away for college I'll miss my team and family. But man, I need to breathe.

Home - Johnson County, KS. Just outside of Kansas City. We think we're OC, except we don't have an ocean, and probably a lot more old people and conservatives. It's nice, I guess. Great schools. People are just generally shallow and snobby. And elitist, in the "oh, you belong to the Homestead Country Club? Oh... how quaint. Our families have been members of the Mission Hills Country Club for sixty years, that's how we met, isn't that right darling?" kinda way. I live in the people-who-don't-belong-to-country-clubs part that shares a shopping center with the snobby part. But it's 3 minutes away from Missouri and gas is like ten cents cheaper there, which is cool.

School - Manhattan, KS. Typical crappy college town. We have a pretty sweet bar scene, though. Most people are either from KC or the middle of nowhere. It's cute I guess, but I'll be glad to gtfo of there when I graduate.

Vancouver, Canada.

Every part of the world has something that I like, and miss... but all things considered, Canada is a pretty good place to live, especially on its West Coast.

One thing that bothers me about Canadians is how passive-aggressive they are. They are non-confrontational but will try to give hints that you will pick up on, yet will remain subtle enough that if you call them on it they can pretend they weren't annoyed at all. They like to pretend they are less rude than Americans, but Canadians are worse in a way because they are thinking all of the things that Americans tend to say, they just don't say them.

Also, I don't like how Canadians don't support each other's ideas. "Our film industry sucks" "Our music industry sucks" "Canadian business sucks", "Oh look a Canadian-made t.v. show, let's watch something else", etc.

Aside from those little problems, it's great here. Lots of fresh water, lots of pristine nature and outdoors to explore, not so many people, and pretty multicultural so I don't have to feel too homesick for parts the world that would be too expensive to go to.

Anchorage, Alaska, USA.

It's interesting. Too much Palin talk though. It's super cold, dark, and depressing in the Winters. However, the Summers make up for them because they're warm, bright, and beautiful. I love the extended day light.

We have a pretty bad crime rate up here, sadly. The population is also small for being such a huge state.

Anchorage is expanding pretty well though. We finally got a couple of Targets and a Kohl's. Now we just need a Sonic, Olive Garden, and a Red Lobster. :D

I live in the city of Preston, Lancashire which is in North Western England. It's got it's ups and downs, but it's my home city and I feel a great attachment to it.

Vancouver, Canada. There are definitely worse places to live in the world, but because of the behavior of my government over the Olympics, I am becoming seriously jaded about North America.

At any rate, I'm in a way better place now than when I last posted in this thread.

I live in Las Vegas, NV, it was great when it was a small town with about 50,000 people in it. As time when by it became a city with over two million people in it. All the things I like doing is about gone because I like outdoor activities, like horseback riding (trail rides with camping), riding dirt bikes on trails and shooting. Unless you are willing to travel along ways there all but gone, these activities used to be close by usual out the backdoor and in the desert. Even though it is home to me, I am thinking about moving when I am retired to a place that is a little less populated.

Vancouver Canada, and it's alright. I think mostly what gets to me about any place is if I know it so well that it's hard to find excitement in it anymore. But I think of all the places in the world I could live, Vancouver is pretty sweet.

Glorious, beautiful Southern California. Glad to be back where I came from--and belong--after living in other states for many years, some of which had me feeling like I was from another planet. Talk about fish out of water... Anyway, back in the Los Angeles area and will *NEVER* move away again.

Currently in Wyoming for a few months while the hubby is deployed, then I'll back in San Diego for another year or so. Then most likely back to my homeland of Montana, or possibly Idaho.

Lausanne, Switzerland
Beautiful place to live in, great for skiing if you like it (which I don't) and close to EVERYWHERE in Europe, so it's easy to travel and visit great, ancient and very interesting places!
On the downside, people can be very uptight and cold... you have to work to break the ice!

Small town southern Minnesota. It's meh. I've lived in the region my whole life so I'm getting kinda sick of it. Fucking cold winters, lots of white people, everyone (including my family) is very passive and won't say anything rude or truthful. I like the Twin Cities a lot but don't get to go there as often as I'd like. The nature here is pretty nice though, and I like the non-winter seasons. I'm excited to move somewhere else when I'm done with college.

I live in San Francisco, CA. City area.

Its very pretty, just beautiful, but its such a mishmash of culture, there is really no identity to the city at all, at least not like other cities I've been in for long periods. Well... lets just say everything here is a facade. You live here with the hippy culture /liberal appearance, while people actually range in their ability to identify with that.

Its sooo mishmash, all forms of expression are what you'd expect. Its business as usual. People are very transient. You make a good friend and then they leave. Ahhh I think I want to go to Portland, not because of portlandia. Because I've been there and the people were really flipping nice. Of course i need to make real friends here first that done move away!

I'm a native Texan. I currently live in the Houston area, but I'm from a small city in East Texas. I would rather be in Austin with the liberals and the food trucks.

I love Texas. I think you have to be from Texas to understand why. It's not a good place to be for women right now, though :(
