What's the longest period of time you've been without power?

I think only a day and a little bit. My town is used to power outages from storms and they're pretty good at fixing things quickly when the power gets knocked out.

Some years ago when the Eastern seaboard blacked out, Toronto was without power for almost 2 days. I was on the subway when the power cut out, so we had to walk through the tunnels not knowing what the hell was going on. Then I had to walk 15 subway stops home in the blistering heat, with no cash. I usually only carry a debit card, which meant I couldn't buy anything. Luckily people showed generosity.

we were just without power for about three days. it was cool for the first two because the entire base was out so i didn't really have to do anything at work, but then it got kind of lame when everything got power back except the barracks...

Same story, only it was for NY subways, and we were over the bridge when it stopped. And it was three days for us

i don't think we've ever had a powercut actually... well maybe like once during a storm for a few hours but nothing worse than that.
they always switch off the water without telling us though, that really pisses me off... once it was for like a 3 day spell so i had to drive to my aunt's house, 25 minutes away every motherfucking day just for a fucking shower ! gah !

Five days. The... thingy... on the transformer was blown and we knew that was the issue and told the power company but it still took almost a week before they came and fucking flipped it. We lost all the shit in our fridge, good times. Was right after we'd been grocery shopping.

Our power-outs don't last very long, which sucks 'cause then we have to put all the candles away again. I'd probably be bored stiff if was over a day, though. Being on the train when it happened? That would suck!

About 3 or 4 days during Hurricane Isabel. Usually we never lose power for more than minutes because we live next to the power company substation and our lines run underground.

A day, after a major wind storm. But the power was on at my school (in another part of the city) so I spent most of the day at school and we were fine.

Where I reside, I have only spent a day maximum devoid of power. Though, I have holidayed at places where either there's no such thing as power or where the power is always either cut/or blown out on the meter box. I have lived in places overseas where there’s no power for over a month, two and a half month's at one time being the maximum, though. I travel a lot, and have stayed in many villages around the world and such where there is no power.

I like it. I like not having to rely on something so...constant, like electricity. And, it's pleasant being stuck in the cold with no warm/sanitary water or gastronomic paraphernalia used for heating food. Just myself, the villagers and nature to rely on. It is magnificent life experience.
