No Man's Sky

Postby rowan » Wed Aug 10, 8:33 2016

Anyone playing this game? I saw some people posting about it on twitter and it looks pretty cool. I haven't bought a game in ages (due to wrist issues) but I'm thinking about picking this one up. Thoughts? Is it as cool as it looks?

I want to get it when it comes out for PC on Friday if the reviews continue to hold up.

I'm always up for a good space exploration game. I'm still trying to decide whether I can put up with the survival mechanics.

I'm interested in playing it. It's just a bit out of my price range at the moment.

I would never play anything with a sexist title.

Angelica, this has nothing to do with the topic and is also ridiculous. Please follow forum rules.
Ugh, I'm tired of my signature.

Sorry, I thought I was on topic. I was making the point that it doesn't sound like a feminist-friendly game.

You can't really go on a title to determine that.

Seems like the initial OMG THIS IS AWESOME has died down and people seem less enamored. What I've heard is that things repeat a little more than you'd like because that's the way randomly generated stuff works; there just aren't enough options. I dunno, I might still pick it up later sometime.

At this point I'm waiting for it to come down to $30 or so. It sounds like a game I'll have a lot of fun with. For me it's like Spore; it didn't fulfill the hype but I still liked both the concept and the game.

From what I've been able to gather the PC is always in first person with no hint of gender or visual differentiation.

People are mostly upset about how one of the devs presented it before release. They were expecting it to have multiplayer interaction and combat. (And, honestly, there are already space games like that. Go play EVE, people.)

Even though I'm only interested in it for the exploration aspect, after watching some LPs on youtube, it does seem rather incomplete. The devs have said that there will be free content updates. So buying the game at this point feels like spending $60 on promises.

I've heard pretty bad things about this game. Supposedly the developer promised a lot of things that didn't make it into the final version. Like Sonic said, maybe I'll get it once it goes on sale
