It's been a while. But hey again!

Pretty sure the last time I posted here or interacted with any of you wonderful people was nearly five years ago.

Five years.

To be honest with y'all, I kind of sort of forgot this site even existed. Then I revisited the Advicenators site via StumbleUpon a couple of months ago and got all Spacefem nostalgic. Flashbacks and warm fuzzy feels and everything.

So I thought I'd drop in and say "hi" rather than lurk in the shadows. Hi!

Since five years is quite a long time and I've done a bit of growing up and maturing since I was last here, I guess I'll go ahead and give a brief reintroduction. Here goes:

Still go by "Sporkster" among old friends, but most people call me Jen now. Living in Raleigh, North Carolina. I'm a rising senior studying linguistics and Spanish at North Carolina State University, and I'm already working on applications for grad school in speech-language pathology. Want to eventually own my own clinic and focus on bilingual pediatric speech therapy. I like language and words and stuff.

Also interested in feminism as it relates to the portrayal of women in video games, reading and discussing sci-fi and fantasy literature, soccer, running, singing when I think nobody is listening, and cooking tasty things to share with people. Also crocheting and attempting to do other crafty things, even though I suck at it.

Hope you've all been well these past five or so years. I'm looking forward to meeting/re-meeting you!

Hi!
I wasn't here five years ago, so I have to say hi rather than welcome back, but I wanted to say because I'm also in NC and interested in women in sci-fi and fantasy. I've been thinking a lot about the topic recently because
1. I finally started reading A Song of Ice and Fire and there's a lot of gender stuff going on there, and
2. I was hoping to do some blogging about it, which didn't pan out.

Anyway, look forward to discussing that and other topics with you!

Welcome back!

I wasn't here five years ago. I just wanted to say that I adore speech pathologists; one of them helped me learn language.

Guess there's something in the water! Y'all popped into my mind for the first time in ages just now and what do I see but someone doing a similar thing.

Linguistics is awesome, I took a few courses in college myself.

Holy shit. Hi there. I had to check the date on this to make sure I didn't somehow open up an old thread.
