The Virgin Suicides

I really want to like it, just like I really wanted to like the book(really didn't like the book). But I am feeling really unfavourably about this movie and do not care to continue watching it. I have had personal recommendations as well as Netflix's 4-star suggestion. I don't like it at all. Sigh.

What are some movies that you guys have a similar reaction to? I mean, all of the elements are there for you to like it, and it seems like you should, but you just do not.

Everyone was like, "You'd love it!" And I'm all, "Hey yeah! It sounds like something I'd like!"

And blah. It puts me to sleep whenever I try watching it. My mom loves it, my best friend loves it, and they're both baffled by my groaning disinterest. I am too.

Spirited Away. I haven't seen it for a while, so maybe I'd like it more now, but when I last saw it I was just groaning the whole time because it felt really cheesy to me. Usually I love Miyazaki films, I just can't do Spirited Away.

I didn't like the Virgin Suicides either. It sounded like a cool idea but in the end I felt no attachment to any of the characters. I just couldn't get into it.

I went and saw The Dictator tonight... really didn't find it that funny. Everyone else was doubled over laughing but I was sitting there quietly.

Also, Sea Biscuit. I left that movie after 20 minutes. I fell asleep twice.

There was this BBC comedy series called 'The Trip' which came out some time last year, and I have offended and surprised so many people by hating it. It's just these two moderately amusing guys on holiday annoying each other.

^ I like the original, but I had the misfortune of first watching it as the director's cut with several people who were too impatient to sit through ten minutes of driving through a metropolis. It didn't go over well for them, and it took me a while to give it a second chance.

This is kind of how I felt about Knocked Up. I didn't think that it was a terrible movie, and some of the scenes were very funny, but overall I just didn't like it.

I also feel this way about It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia(bleh!). As for the Virgin Suicides, yeah, I just couldn't get into it...maybe I was remembering how unimpressed I was with the book. I don't know.
