Hey, I'm Tigger89. My real name is Brittany, but I prefer to be called by my nickname online. That's why I have one, right? I'm from Maryland, east coast USA. (Current weather: freezing) My hobbies include reading(I'm currently working on the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan), computer programming(C++, javascript, html, visual basic), listening to music(Fav bands: nirvana, metallica, linkin park, green day, story of the year) and writing(mostly fictional prose).
I've hung around spacefem on and off for a while now, I haven't registered previously because I felt that my age might not fit well. I'm only 14, and this struck me as a more mature place, deviod of the younger chtspk crowd(which is what always annoyed me about other places). So I hope that I can get along here and maybe actually have some intelligent conversation.
I can't think of anything else to say, but if there's something you want to know feel free to ask. If I don't want to answer, I won't get all touchy about it like some people do(I hate that).
(:

Don't worry about age! I'm only 13 and I know lots of other spacefemmites who are about that. Heck, there are some moderators who are your age too. Kissthefluffycloudbunny!!, The Disembodied Head, Rainbow Dolphins, vega_pleiades, watermelon-chipmunk, and Inept(these are all mods)are all about 13-15, I believe.

Anyway, Welcome to Spacefem! Have a spork and flamethrower! :spork: :flamethrower:

So have I finally found an intelligent corner populated with people of my own age? Wow.

You should join the Cosmic Mayhem usergroup, if you haven't already.

I love the fact that you love computer programming. downwithhydrogen on here has quite the experience with C++ as well. I happen to enjoy Java, myself. You can see my work on my website, as well as the program/robot in the #spacefem IRC chat room accessible from the left, which updates a list of people in the chat. I'd be interested in seeing any work you've done. Welcome to the board!

Welcome to Spacefem, Tigger89! :)
Great to see another youthful, and intelligent addition to our fine internet community.

Congrats on reading the FAQ, I'm taking a liking to you already! Here, have this for your effort: :cupcake:

I look forward to seeing you around(I am also a Metallica, Linkin Park, Greenday, and Nirvana fan...but I like a looooot of music!).

Happy posting!
What was once before you - an exciting, mysterious future - is now behind you. Lived; understood; disappointing. You realize you are not special. You have struggled into existence, and are now slipping silently out of it. This is everyone's experience. Every single one. The specifics hardly matter. Everyone's everyone.

Neat. Though Visual Basic causes cancer in laboratory animals (hate hate hate hate). Stick with C++, learn Java and at least one scripting language (Perl is probably the most used, and definitely good to know...PHP is a web programming scripting language (that can also be used for normal scripting) that's really intuitive, easy to use, and most importantly commonly offered in web hosting packages...Python is not as common, but is a good scripting language as well with an interesting twist on a C-like syntax...all are procedural with optional object-oriented abilities and mostly C-ish in syntax).

Oh...I guess since this is the New Members forum, I should welcome you...

...umm, welcome. Sorry for the lecture. =)

Wow, additions to the welcoming package: cupcake, pez and a dragon. I love dragons.

iv dot ix - VB was the first *real* programming language I learned (HTML probably doesn't count because it's more formatting), it's not my language of choice. I'm taking Perl next semester in school(if I can get into the class, that is. I still haven't signed up.). And I have a book on Java, but my dad promised he'd get me a compiler and he never did. That was like four years ago. *pokes him* And no problem about the lecture! ^_^

Well, it's a start...but really, VB makes baby Jesus cry.

Java is free - go to http://java.sun.com - the compiler is free, and so is the Netbeans IDE.
