I realize that some people JUST joined, so I guess this thread is geared towards our older members. How have you changed since your first post, and what was your first post? Where did you post it? Did everybody hate you?

This is the link to my first post. It's from March 19th, 2003. Although that thread did get moved to New Members, I did originally start it in Ranting, in which it was moved into Hell, and out into New Members. Everybody hated me for at least my first 6 months of existance on this forum, and I could never figure out why. That is, until I sat down one day and read all of my old posts. All I could manage to think is "God! What an idiot!!" I used chatspeak, I said the most stupid, random things ever (don't get me wrong; random is fine in the right amounts), and I had a knack for whining and feeling sorry for myself if somebody told me to settle down.

So come and reminisce with me! Come and revieve your inner n00b!!

(PS! I'd like to apologize to everybody that I bitched at as a n00b, even though most of them arent even current members here....RIP Skalle, angry-amy, opodgodie, etc....)

Let us put it this way - I'm going to link to a post I made on the NEW forum after the whole ordeal with the original forum. Therefore, I had already been at spacefem for several months (or two, whatever) and settled down a bit.

It embarasses me to go and look at these things. I can just feel how hyper I was. Good thing the weight of the world crushed my youthful spirit and now I am just a bitter and horrible person

I burn with shame. It's exactly the sort of obtuse nonsense I loath today, and I frequently tell people off for. Though from looking at the next one up, I immediently seemed to improve, if still rather exuberant and missing the shift key. I think my first 15 or so posts are entirely in Creativity.

I don't think anyone really noticed me come in, and so I didn't really cause a stir. I never even made a 'I'm a newbie' thread. I was just a slightly irritaing new person. I must have done something right though, cuz I've ended up a mod, and not kicked out

And you're lucky that you're a mod. Vega once told me that I need to be at least 40% serious to be a mod (she was yelling at me at the time), so I'm basically convinced that no matter how long I stay here, I'll never get to be a mod.

When I joined, I felt an immense pressure to impress others and so I went out of my way to appear intelligent, even to the point of being pedantic and extremely critical. I have arguably improved since then, by accepting that it's not a popularity contest and realizing that overreacting is not always the best course of action, no doubt through the involvement of concerned individuals not wishing to give up on me.

I joined in 2002. i can't find my first post, but I'm pretty sure it was stupid. I was such a freaking n00b back then. I remember making a story with smilies. And the monkey icon was my pet monkey, poona. He died. Rest in peace, Poona the monkey.

Oh yes. I think MFS is to blame for beating us out of n00biness. With a big stick.

Well technically my first post was on the old forums, because I've secretly been around forever. But I still hate some of my early posts on the new forum, because while I otherwise had good grammar, I had something against capitalization, for some reason known only to my 15 year-old-self.

I think my posts became less stupid sometime in March of 2003.

Also, for some reason Skalle once accused me of being the same person as barcode or something.
