The one mainstay on the show is Jesse James. He also owns West Coast Choppers, and that's how he got this show. They profiled him for Motorcycle Week, or something, loved him, and boom. He's got his own show. And yes, he is related to THE Jesse James.
Anyway, each week, Jesse is given a new challenge. To take a regular car and turn it into a monster of some sort. I think my favorite to date has been the Satambulance. He and the crew of the week had to take an ambulance and make it pop a wheelie. They have 7 days to do this (1 day to design with experts, 6 days to build) and a budget of $3000. In those 7 days, they succeeded in the task of making the ambulance pop a wheelie.
Only two challenges have failed. Last nights, which was to take a Mazda RX7 and make it into a dune buggy (called the Doom Buggy), and the hearse. I missed that episode. If the challenge fails, his team does not get their reward - a complete MAC tool set and box (I think it's a $1500 value), and Jesse destroys the car. The Doom Buggy was riddled with bullets from a machine gun (like a Howitzer) that was mounted to a Suburban. Jesse will also keep a piece of the failed car to remind himself that "failure sucks."
I love this show. I think that it's cool when the team disagrees, but it seems to go better when it's all smooth. And the skill that these men and women have is incredible. It makes me want to go out and learn more about anything mechanical. I recommend it for gear heads, and non-gear heads. It gets
It's getting flames because Jesse likes to set stuff on fire.
