I live in the high desert. It's pretty cool and outdoorsy, but the UV rays will fry you here, too. We'll also never get an IKEA. Or an H&M.

I happen to live in Frankfurt, Germany.
I started off in NE Germany in '87, then we moved to the SW in '89, shortly before the Reunion.
We swapped from some small village to another several times, until mum finally came up with the brill idea to move to a big city (after 13 years of no more than 800 people in the village I live in... quite adjusting to be done).

I hated it all the way through, which eventually cleared up, until now I realize: It's a shit a place as any. Well, not quite. It all depends on whom you have around.
So it's really shitty again lately. But whatever.
I'm so outta here as soon as I'm rich.

Ohio, USA.

It's pretty lame. The sky is always gray and we have gross weather (largely due to our beloved polluted Lake Erie. Oh how I love lake effect snow). Ohio as a state rather sucks too. We are always red, we don't allow gay marriage, and we have a really dumb public educational system.

All of which is why I am only applying to one school instate, and only as an uber-safety. Hopefully this time next year I will be in the far east or the far west of the US.

Gatineau (Hull), Quebec, Canada.

Near the capital with all its pretty architecture and civil servants (including me). I live with my wife in a house, on a dead-end street, close to a nature park, the local bike trail network, a good bakery, three levels of school, a grocery store and a friendly bike mechanic. We have a little vegetable garden in the back. We don't need to own a car. The weather is the variety pack of stifling heat and heaps of snow that the Eastern Time Zone part of Canada tends to get. I kind of like it. Hull feels a bit more small-towny than Ottawa, which suits me fine.

I live in London, England. It's pretty awesome because you can get almost everything here, albeit at an inflated price. The suburb I live in (Southall, btw) can also be known as "Little India", which is quite interesting because I get to experience Indian culture without actually moving there. Oh yeah, and what would London be without the unpredictable weather, the chavs with ASBOs, and the gift shops and tourist attractions?

I currently live near Portland, Oregon. I moved here a couple years ago from western Washington, which is where I grew up. Before that, I lived in California for a few years, but I moved away when I was six or so so I don't really remember it... I was actually born in Texas, but I was like two years old when I moved to the west coast, so it doesn't really count. I moved around so much 'cause my dad used to be in the air force. I'm fond of the west coast in general, but I haven't lived in Oregon long enough to be all that attached to it specifically. I was rather attached to Washington, but I haven't been there in so long that I don't consider it "home" anymore, though it is wonderfully nostalgic on the rare occasion that I take a trip up there.

Orange County, Southern California, USA.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but I live in the poor OC. My cousin lives up in Mission Viejo and has tons of friends in Laguna Beach and is one of those girls you see on the OC. She doesn't consider where I live to be OC even though it is. It's a nice city though, or at least I live in the nicer part of it. My ex's neighborhood is pretty scary though because it's West Trece's (some gang) territory.

I like living here, I guess.

I'm currently living in NYC, but sadly I'll only be here for a few more months (until May)! Then I'll be heading to graduate school...just don't know where that'll be yet. Either California, Boston, or the U.K. And I totally dig NYC! I'll be so sad to leave it!

I live in Texas, just outside of Austin. I don't really care for Texas in general, but I adore Austin. I'll live there next year in college and I may never leave.

I live smack bad in the middle of bible belt. Nashville, Tennessee.

I don't much care for it. Other than friends. The weather is not my favorite.

I have also lived in, and much prefer: maine, nebraska, california, hawaii, italy, D.C., virginia, florida and maryland. -----> military brat

Portland, Oregon: in the Pacific Northwest of America!

I love the rain and the friends. Skinny dipping, sipping infinite bowl-like cups of coffee, and waking up at six am in a tent with six other people, still drunk, hugging a boot.

"Home": Atascadero, Central California, USA
The name of the town translates as "mud hole" and it's an apt description of the place. Redneck central. San Luis Obispo, which is 10-15 miles south, has a certain charm to it, but the provincial cowboy mindset still reigns supreme even there. I was SO glad to get out.

School: Claremont, East LA County/Inland Empire, Southern California, USA
It's quaint rich suburbia, pretty much. Definitely pretty, and you can get anything you want. A mix of college students and retired folks live here, and the two populations don't really get along. Everything except the 2 lame bars we have shuts down by 8pm.

Neither place fits me perfectly. I belong somewhere on the coast like Santa Cruz, or in the San Francisco Bay Area, or further north like Portland, Oregon.

Australia! Love it down here. We slather everything with vegemite, eat boxes of weetbix at a time and everyone owns a baby kangaroo in their back yard.

I live in Friendly Feilding (people always misspell it), Manawatu, lower North Island, New Zealand. 14,000 people, twenty kilometres north of Palmerston North. It's pretty nice, I guess. Winner of Most Beautiful Town in NZ 14 times, but it's rather quiet and I'm more of a city girl, despite having spent my whole life to date here. I'm definitely not spending the rest of my life here, but it's been a good place to grow up.

Austin, Texas and I love it. Texas is a big place, all parts of the state are different but I love the cultural diversity, food, certain landscapes, low cost of living, friendliness of people, and the weather. I dislike the conservativeness, but Austin is an oasis so I feel at home here.
