Octopi are fucking awesome

Underwater footage reveals that the creatures scoop up halved coconut shells before scampering away with them so they can later use them as shelters.

This is the first recorded incidence of octopi using tools, the article says. The recorded octopus shows an incredible amount of foresight - I mean, it's pretty apparent that upon seeing the coconut shell, it decides "This would make an awesome house. Lemme carry it over here to a safe spot." And then it's like, "You know what would be even better? A roof for my house. Oh man, I'll get another shell and make a cave." Plus it's freaking adorable!

That video was adorable and made me want a pet octopus.

I'd give it something bigger than a coconut shell to hide under, though.
