favorite thing to happen in a star trek episode

so after upsetting poor spoon with my lack of star trek options in the "future movies" poll, I realized that we just need more polls about star trek. and posts about star trek. and porn featuring star trek. oh wait kidding on that last one.

but let's be very general... what's your favorite ingredient in a star trek episode? some things just seem to happen again and again in these zany space adventures, because they make for awesome episodes. if you were a writer what would you draw from the most?

this list is next generation biased, because that's how I am.

I like the ones when some crew member gets stuck on a planet that's about to explode or there's hostile aliens or something and there's something wrong with the ship because of the impending super nova/ alien technology, so they have to spend the whole episode trying to fix the ship and trying to figure out how to save the crew member (and any other good guys) from the planet of death. I remember that happening a lot in TOS.

I like the you may be super powerful but we have morals so we will inevitably win even though at any second of this episode you can crush us like so many bugs. This theme was a crossover from the original and TNG.

I've been watching through parts of TNG lately. I like a lot of different things. Of course there are the holodeck episodes, the episodes where someone goes to the bar and talks to Guinan, Q... But if I had to pick one theme in the poll, it'd be parallel universes.

I never really got into Sci-Fi in general. I mean, I watch Sanctuary on SyFy (what a stupid name change) but that really isn't science fiction. I couldn't even get into Stargate and I think Amanda Tapping is hot.

Be that as it may, I did like Star Trek: The Next Generation. I liked when Picard wound up being turned into a Borg. There is also another episode that ended up being a dream sequence or something but I cannot remember exactly what happened.

I chose space disease. I'm specifically thinking of the one in TNG when they all act drunk and Yar and Data doooo iiiiiit.

But talking it out with Guinan or Q at the bar is a close second. I love all these tropes quite a bit.

I had to go for the parallel universe; what's not to like about Ezri and Kira getting 'friendly'

There was also a great double episode of Enterprise set entirely in the parallel universe; it even had its own superior opening
