Down down down....to the bottom of the sea

Ok that's like totally mixing and matching songs. But anyway. James Cameron, GENTLEMAN ADVENTURER (apparently? I thought he just did films, but I guess he explores for National Geographic too) has just been to the bottom of the Marianas Trench. He went down in about 2 hours and came up in - get this - 70 minutes. You'd think he'd explode? I guess the pressure in the cabin wasn't so bad? I'd like to know how the sub managed that.

Anyway read about it here. Hopefully they'll have some video up soon of stuff he saw!

Here's the website about the project. Apparently he was supposed to be down there a 4-6 hours but the sub sprung a leak and he had to come back up early. But it's still way awesome that he went down there.

I like it when rich people put their money on shit like that. If all the rich fuckers out there would put their money towards scientific exploration of earth, sea, and space I wouldn't be so pissed about how our capitalist system is set up.

YES!! This is my favorite thing about this project, that he's taking his money and putting it towards science and knowledge.
