Seriously, you guys. Don't let me stay here alone anymore.
First it was the front door. It's warped by weather and the deadbolt stopped going into the hole, which meant I couldn't lock my house, which totally freaked me out. Because, yeah, I live in a nice quiet suburban neighborhood now and the chances of anything actually happening were pretty slim but I used to live in a not-so-nice urban area and someone did break in and steal my computer, so I'm a little paranoid. Got that fixed this morning. So yay that, except for the fact that it cost $85 (which is a lot when my income is 0 and the people who are supposed to be giving me a paid project haven't contacted me even though they said they would this week) and screwed up my schedule at the museum where I volunteer. I'm going to the museum tomorrow, which is fine, except that it in turn screws up my skype schedule with my boyfriend. Not a huge problem because he's a reasonable and flexible person, but still annoying.
And now I've broken the phone. I unplugged it because I had a job interview via webcam and I didn't want it to ring in the middle. Turns out it wouldn't have mattered, because it was a group thing and my microphone was on only a very small portion of the time, but it was described as a "live chat" so I thought that meant sound. Plus the fact that it wasn't made soliciting audience participation way more difficult than you could tell they wanted it to be, so good job there, organizers. Anyway, I unplugged the power and when I plugged it back in the screen on the phone lit up but there was none of the usual text. After hauling a table out - no easy feat considering it has a desktop computer on it and an excessive metal panel down the back - I saw that the cord was no longer plugged into the phone jack. So I fixed that, and guess what? The phone still doesn't work.
I'm also pretty sure I didn't reset the thermostats properly when I got back from vacation, but whatever.
The kitchen is OK so far - let's hope it stays that way!

ARRR!
