New meme: build your own rapture prediction

Postby spacefem » Wed May 18, 20:09 2011

It happens all the time... some religious bigwig predicts that we're all going to heaven in spaceships on a certain day, but when the day comes and we're all still here, what do we do? Lose faith? Question the instability of the world? Nah, we just predict a new day.

But this time it could be different, because it could be YOU predicting that new day! You don't need magic number decoding powers, all you need is our newest meme: Spacefem's Rapture Prediction Builder. You can generate your own prediction for when the world will tragically end, tell your friends, and if you're right then we'll all think you're terribly insightful. If we're still here, I mean.

Personally, I'm calling it on December 23rd, 2011, 10:28 am. I hate to see us go in the peak of the holiday shopping season but even I have to admit, something about that time of year has always seemed a little misguided, if the world's going down I could totally see it starting in a mall.

What's your prediction?

Well, according to mine, the apocalypse happened on December 3rd, 1930, 1:35 am...

That was with .43 of the population being saved, between 0 and 1000 years from now, with a random number of 42.

But hey, looks like we can all stop worrying about it then!

September 4th, 5:08pm of this year. THE RAPTURE IS NEAR! PREPARE YOURSELVES!

Haha, this is pretty awesome. Also, there was a big truck in my office parking lot that had a huge side advertisment talking about the rapture, date, time and everything. Pretty hilarious. There's a pic on facebook, if I find the link I'll post it.

I like Spacefems, for saving me the trouble of Christmas shopping.

but mine was:

The apocalypse will occur on June 28th, 2012, 12:57 am.
Only 0 people will be saved.
Prepare now. The end is near.

I figure this is the prequel to the whole Mayan end of the universe thing.

3% was too much so I went with 0.0003%

rowan has predicted the apocalypse.
The apocalypse will occur on June 12th, 2568, 9:55 am.
Only 20,999 people will be saved.
Prepare now. The end is near.

But we have some time. By "near" I mean, uh, not in my lifetime, I guess.
Global warming is intricately tied to the decline in the pirate population. As the pirate population goes down, the average global temperature goes up. Ergo, pirates are cool, and we need more pirates. :pirate: ARRR!

Dude, guys, this idea was posted on facebook by the group Improv Everywhere: Proposed Rapture mission for Saturday: everyone buys a blowup doll, fills it with helium, and releases it at exactly 12 Noon. Several people have emailed us this idea. We're not doing it, but someone should.

Want make happen.

I heard we were supposed to leave random piles of clothes in the streets all day... I love the blow up doll idea, except won't everyone wonder why the chosen ones look so surprised?

It's gonna happen, people! Guard your brains and stock pile for your bomb shelters!
What was once before you - an exciting, mysterious future - is now behind you. Lived; understood; disappointing. You realize you are not special. You have struggled into existence, and are now slipping silently out of it. This is everyone's experience. Every single one. The specifics hardly matter. Everyone's everyone.

I went to a pretty well-produced rapture a couple of years ago. It started out with traditional Jesus. Then people disappeared. Then the world fell under the domination of the UN. People took the mark of the beast. Then kickass fireball Jesus came. Then Roman Jesus kicked Satan's ass, hippie Jesus talked about the beauty of heaven, and jerk-wad Jesus sent a guy to hell for not believing. Needless to say, I expect the production values of the rapture to be high.

I also remember the four horses of the apocalypse looking so cute and spooked by the loud noises.

Also, speaking of the four horsemen, does anyone remember this gem?

Hah!

Zombie Apocalypse on October the 31st, 2024.

How can it NOT be true?
"Delicious, delicious, delicious!" Wile E Coyote cried. "My Delicious! O my Delicious!"
And with that, even as his eyes were lifted up to gloat on his prize,
he stepped too far, toppled, wavered for a moment on the brink,
and then with a shriek he fell.
Out of the depths came his last wail Delicious, and he was gone.

Hey, that's ganked from the opening scene of one of the later Six Feet Under episodes (video link, slightly NSFW).
