What is the origin of your username?

Imogene comes from my favorite literature character ever: Imogene "Idgie" Threadgoode, the main character of Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe by Fannie Flagg. And I like to swim, hence fish.

How did you get to spacefem.com?

An acquaintance showed me the site. He's no longer here, though.

Where is your user pic from, and what does it mean to you?

It's now a photoshop-filtered picture I took of a flower with a bee on it. I am scared of bees and other insects, and I got right up close to it with the camera, so I am proud of myself. And I think it's pretty.

How do you generally stand on political issues?

I'm so far left as to almost be socialist.

In the US we need universal healthcare, food and housing. Our poor are treated so awfully. I'm pro-choice, pro-gay-rights, pro-stemcell research, pro-free speech, pro-preserving the environment, pro-disability rights, pro-preserving of culture, pro-immigration, pro-peace and I very much believe in a sepparation of church and state. I believe in the death penalty, but only in the most severe cases (basically 1/20th as much as we use it).

What do you feel is your greatest achievement in life?

It was being the greatest big sister I could be, but now that my little sister is gone, it just doesn't feel right to say it (especially because I could have been a much better sister). So I will say being among the first girl scout troop to climb Mount Whitney (and not puking once I got to the top- I got altitude sickness on all the practice hikes). That or helping to teach a child with mild autism and CP to talk and walk with a walker. He is so cute, too.

What kinds of music do you like?

Classical music, especially Debussy, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, Gershwin, Copeland, Sibelius, Rachmoninov, Respighi, and Dvorak. Also, jazz, Oldies, Classic Rock, Showtunes, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Israeli, and Disney songs. I have the best taste in music, don't I?

What do you like/not like to wear?

I like comfortable clothes. Also, it's cool to wear stuff (mostly shirts) that I altered or made myself. It makes me feel creative. I especially when I get a bunch of compliments on them. I get to tell people "it's an original." Otherwise, I could not care less what I wear.

What do you like about yourself?

I have pretty eyes. They change colors between sky blue, greenish-grey and pale (almost white) grey. It's cool!

Since I started college, there have always been at least two guys who had crushes on me or were in love with me (I didn't know this for a long time). Still happens even though I've gained a million pounds. It's a great ego boost. (thought the heart-breaking part isn't fun)

I think differently than everyone else. Not better, just differently. This can get me in trouble, though.

I have an eerily good memory for detail.

LA county, California, US. I kind of move around within the county.

What is your religious identification/lack thereof?

I belong to a Conservative Jewish synagogue, but I'm actually a Reform Jew. I love that we don't claim to know the answers, and we get to argue about it all we want. We read, we discuss, we read some more, we discuss some more, then we eat. Yay!

Which gender are you sexually attracted to?

Nerds. Actually, mostly guys, but occasionally girls.
