Re: Compromise between Conservatives/TERFeminism and Transfeminism.

I don't really get the concerns about safety, to be honest. It's communally monitored in addition to being monitored by the organization providing the space. Nude beach culture is very benign. I have gone for years and only witnessed a few incidents (we're talking 2 or 3 in 10 years), mostly pervy ...

Re: Compromise between Conservatives/TERFeminism and Transfeminism.

I don't think this proposed compromise does anything to address the safety of trans persons in public restrooms or changing rooms. I've been to plenty of places that had single stall restrooms that weren't gendered, and plenty that were. There is no reason for a single occupancy restroom to specify...

Re: Compromise between Conservatives/TERFeminism and Transfeminism.

I don't think alot of men would be capable of not sexually harrassing woman in a shared changing room. Even if it only comes in the form of staring that makes the women feel threatened. That's the same argument that straight men make against sharing locker rooms with gay men. If you're so afraid of...

Re: Compromise between Conservatives/TERFeminism and Transfeminism.

I dunno... after being to nude beaches, where everyone is there including all the sexes, adults, children, the elderly, etc... I see a world where different change rooms aren't even necessary. Same with bathrooms. If you travel in Quebec there are unisex bathrooms. There's so much talk about having ...

I can't imagine the logistical nightmare you're going through, especially while trying to negotiate with an insurance company.

Re: Knee Surgery

The post-op sore throat really sucks... I know it well. Sometimes they are so rough when they put the tube in. I drink a lot of tea with raw honey in it after times like that, and it helps... and eating popsicles. Have you ever seen those empty plastic popsicle molds you can buy at the dollar store?...

Re: Knee Surgery

Eating a collagen rich diet or taking collagen supplements post-op will make it heal a lot faster, along with L-glutamine. There's a company called Great Lakes that sells a collagen powder that you just add to water, but there are many collagen powder producers out there. I prefer collagen supplemen...

It gets better for people with privilege, or it starts good in the first place. Everyone else has to struggle to make it better and doesn't always succeed.

I'm not jaded, just being realistic.

Re: When does one become "a local"?

It may just be simpler to say that you have to be born there to be a local. Hmm. I don't feel like a local there, anymore, really. Too many things have changed back there, even though I was there a long time. I suppose a lot of people don't feel local anywhere anymore. In Vancouver? Hard to feel li...

Re: Have you ever pretended you don't know something?

Over the years I've learned to subdue my brilliance because a lot of people completely miss the point of what I'm saying or they take it personally. As I get older I'm becoming like a wild animal that just wants to conserve energy whenever possible, which means meaningful engagements only. I've lear...

Re: silly destressers

I love going for long walks at night when most people are at home and in bed, blasting my ipod. I can walk huge distances. I'll stop in my favourite parks to stretch on the monkey bars and benches before moving on. I have a rich inner fantasy life so it's win-win when I can exercise my body while le...

Re: When does one become "a local"?

I have honestly never felt at home anywhere, so I'm not sure how to really answer. I'm assuming a local is someone who has spent a lot of time and energy getting to know a place, relating to its culture, and knowing a lot of its ins and outs fluently. But when I examine what I just said, it doesn't ...

Re: Unplanned, polyamorous pregnancy situation

It sounds like you can't predictably rely on either of these men to bring another life into the world, and your 10 month boyfriend is too new to know either way. Wanting children "some day" is not exactly a ringing commitment. You need to get real here. You're potentially bringing a human being into...

Re: Brand new human organ identified - REALLY!!!

I think as modern medicine starts to gain a better understanding of holism in the body (vs. compartmentalism), they will begin to discover more organs like this. I have to admit though, I'm having a hard time understanding what this interstitutium is about. In Chinese medicine they have an organ cal...

The two are related but they are talking about different things. Equality means everyone gets the same constitutional protections as well as the same human rights, without bias or prejudice. Re: MGTOW: Enthusiastic Consent

I don't relate to this issue. In the gay world sex is openly discussed and agreed upon before it ever happens. Men even discuss limits on what can and can't happen, their likes and dislikes, etc. To me it would be kind of crazy to have sex without talking about sex beforehand. Well, we are talking ...

Re: The female price of male pleasure

I don't really see the point of comparing which sex has the best pleasure or the worst sexual experience at the expense of the other sex. Our whole society is woefully sexually repressed with a lot of internalized shame. It's not helping anyone to continue the shaming. A lot of people don't even kno...

Re: How do we beat these misogynists?

I'm an idealist so in my mind we just need to not become like what we oppose. I understand action must be made but with wisdom and compassion. I've forgiven people who mistreated me. Verbally. I've had people get physical but I've returned the aggression in the past so we were both in the wrong. In...

Re: How do we beat these misogynists?

Humiliation and public shaming tend to shut most people up, if there are sufficient numbers. I just can't help but feel it's a double standard. Humilation, public shaming. These are things I don't want done to me. I know itd shut me up. But why use the same aggressive ideas. It's not a bad idea, su...
