People seriously do not have enough respect when they are operating a vehicle. I hate driving partially because I'm really uncomfortable with the fact that behind the wheel you have the power to kill someone, just because maybe you're not paying attention or you're tired or you're in a hurry to get ...

If I am sending an email to the team of chefs (the group of people I most frequently email) I start with "Chefs," if I am including others on the team as well I start "Everyone,". If it's to just a couple of people I might just use their names, for example, "Jose and Mary,". I don't usually put hell...

I agree that it might help to ask your colleagues if you can help them with anything. At least it might give you a sense of purpose. Also just keep counting down the days... four months might seem like a long time but it'll really be over soon. It sucks that you're in this situation but I'm sure you...
I stayed on a farm one weekend and had fresh goat milk for my coffee. I think it was the best thing I had ever put in coffee. Ever. It was so good. I'm glad someone else is on the same page here. Any time I try to tell people to try putting goat milk in their coffee they act like I am insane. If yo...
And some of those people smuggle goats. No, I'm not kidding. Evidently, this is a big deal around Oregon and northern California. Big enough a deal that it was posted about on more than one website from people who are either into 1) farming, b) goats, iii] posting about smuggling across state lines...

My method is to be smarter and faster and way more of a badass than these guys. I have small triumphs but it's still overwhelming. It can be hard not to play into their bullshit, too. Just remember you are way more awesome than then and surround yourself with people who are way more awesome. Strengt...
I would argue that we are a society of people, not lions, and if feeling "threatened" by large hairy men is an instinct (and I'm not agreeing that it is) we as people should be able to recondition ourselves. I do agree that outsiders are viewed with disdain and fear, and we all need to be part of th...
Not sure what your taste in movies is but Raw comes to mind. It's an indie french horror movie and it's on Netflix. I really enjoyed it, the protagonist is a woman and so are some supporting characters, it shows her relationship with her sister, some of the issues young women face when they go to co...
A person who is seen as straight white and male is judged as more credible and competent than a person who is not seen as straight white and male, as a general rule. Therefore, this person is able to do things like curse and not have their intelligence thought less of. This is only one example of so...
Barely. Like, I can put a button back on and fix a busted seam, repair a hole in a pocket, etc. But it's not usually pretty. I could sew a straight line with a sewing machine last time I tried, but it's been years and I had supervision. Not sure if I could do anything on my own.
I was not able to select enough options, if that tells you how much of a coffee freak I am. It's gotten so bad that I have been adding a shot of espresso to my regular cup of coffee at work. A little milk if it's available, if we're out of milk then black. I have done egg nog but it's a little sweet...
I finished The Count of Monte Cristo! I really liked it. I would say I preferred it to The Three Musketeers. I am on nonfiction now, and I promised my mom the book she just published would be my next fiction read. Will report back.
I just started The Count of Monte Cristo. It's really long but reading quick so far. I really liked The Three Musketeers, and a friend of mine told me this one is better. Before this one I read dreamcatcher by Stephen King. Not really a fan. I feel like a lot of his work is hit-or-miss. There are so...
That sounds really stressful and all of that really sucks. Being at the mercy of other people's stupidity is such a frustrating and infuriating experience. It should be obvious to everyone with a brain in their heads that if you don't work in the lab, you have no control over how fast the results co...

I really liked Stranger Things, I am excited for the next season. Just finished Luke Cage- I liked it but it was not as engaging as Daredevil or Jessica Jones. Like, the characters and the plotline didn't pull you in as much. Luke Cage and Rosario Dawson's character were good but the new characters ...
So, I have decided I don't want to pay my car insurance bill. Why should I have to? It's my money, I worked for it, I should decide where it goes. Does my insurance company think they can just TAKE my money against my will? I know it's illegal to drive a car without insurance, but I just don't think...

I think last time I went to one I made hummus. This worked well because I knew there was going to be a crudite tray. I like to bring salads sometimes. I make an avocado devilled egg that's kind of a signature recipe, so I sometimes make those, but they're a lot of work.
