Re: have you traveled by train?

Yes.
Several times on public transportation.

Amtrake
Once to Boston. Swore never to do it again because the stops kept waking me up. And I was in coach

Taking the Auto Train to Disney World in February. Got a sleeper car this time with bed. So hopefully a better experience.

Re: Return to Disney

The character meal sounds adorable but in my reality I'd feel so awkward interacting with them. I was vaguely intimidated by the characters even as a kid though. You should visit Pandora, the Avatar world too. OMG I'm jealous Disneyland doesn't have it. For me the awkwardness is part of the fun. La...

Re: have you waited tables?

No. I couldn't deal with the asshole customers.

That said, I try to be as empathetic as possible with my servers because I know they can only do so much (crowded room means not as fast service, if something is wrong I"ll politely ask them to correct it, etc.). I've seen "Waiting".

Return to Disney

I'll be making my glorious return to Disney World the near future. I gathered a little more information and have put together a nice itinerary (esp considering this is fairly last minute, relatively speaking) Things I'll be doing that I didn't do last time Character meals. This includes a lunch with...

Probably.

The girlfriend and I did Rugged Maniac yesterday then went to Medieval Times yesterday.

I got a good rest but I could use more.

Re: Abortion - My Stance and Why I Can Still Be a Feminist

But that's the issue. Trying to separate the criteria as you are, you're creating strawmen when no one looks only at whether or not an entity can form opinions It's not a strawman. "I'm not ignoring the bodily autonomy of the fetus. If it had an opinion on what to do with its own body parts I'd be ...

But that's the issue. Trying to separate the criteria as you are, you're creating strawmen when no one looks only at whether or not an entity can form opinions Even if I agreed that it's two bodies working in concert, that does not mean one body has to consent to other body's need for teamwork. Re: Abortion - My Stance and Why I Can Still Be a Feminist

I believe you're conflating two different discussions. Basically, I solely brought up the example of a 1-year-old child to showcase the idea that you can't murder something because it isn't able to have an opinion about something. You have to agree, in that murder is not justified when somebody can...

Re: Abortion - My Stance and Why I Can Still Be a Feminist

Just because something doesn't have an opinion on a matter -that doesn't mean it's okay to kill them. That's insane. If you ask a 1-year-old child what their opinion is of their bodily autonomy, they wouldn't be able to tell you. They can't form sentences. That doesn't mean we should ignore their b...

Re: Abortion - My Stance and Why I Can Still Be a Feminist

If you create a policy that knowingly affects one sex and not the other, then it has everything to do with sex. It may or may not strictly be sexist, but it's definitely related to sex in effect. "Pro-life" is not a stance nature takes, and so it is not nature that risks being sexist here, but whoe...

Re: Abortion - My Stance and Why I Can Still Be a Feminist

I would argue there's a false equivalence. A fetus that relies on the pregnant woman is not the same a a baby or child relying in its mother. A fetus takes bodily resources from the pregnant woman and comes with a lot of prenatal costs not every woman consents to paying. The mother who bears a child...

Re: Took Zumba for the first time

I go to exercise classes a lot, and I've always found the gender imbalance interesting. I guess it makes sense, since my assumption would be that women feel less comfortable than men working out on their own. This one time there were 4 dudes in my spin class of ~25, which remains a record. I've nev...

Took Zumba for the first time

I decided I wasn't getting enough cardio and really wanted to throw all aspects of my comfort zone for a loop...hence Zumba. It does feel a little weird being the only guy in class, but I'll just have to get over it and have fun. Last week was my first and yesterday the third time. It's fun and a gr...

My worst is also my best. I like harmony, so I'll hold my tongue to avoid conflict or saying something hurtful. However, it's a double edged sword because it makes facing any sort of conflict difficult.

^ In other words, Luke wasn't the hero you wanted him to be. You're in the Kylo-position. You don't like being manipulated. Whereas I didn't feel manipulated. That was surprising, and I went with it. No, Luke wasn't the hero The Force Awakens set him up to be. And he certainly wasn't the person Ret...
