Re: what's the last movie you saw?

I watched Say Anything which somehow I hadn't seen before and was surprised to find it was really pretty good! It aged a lot better then most 80s romantic comedies.

Re: The more accomplished the female character, the more violent the response.

This is probably a stupid reason to dislike the above paragraph.. but breasts are super hard to get a grip on. This is terrible writing. It's like the person who wrote this never met a boob. Also this is explicitly violent against the character's femininity. I'd agree that it's violence as an attemp...

Re: Feminism is Good but Needs to be More Extreme

This is super vague. I agree with sonic, we're all discussing our own perception of extreme which is interesting.

OP: what exactly do you mean by extreme?

Medium? Im good in the outdoors and have read many hatchet type books and watched a lot of survivorman so there's that but I've also never hunted or fished (vegetarian) and my plant identification is not great. I did get lost in the woods once and we found our way out eventually before needing food...

Re: gender recognition

Mel's kid ended that discussion calling himself a boy.. and with that discussion lowered the likelihood of Mel's kid being an ass to a trans or in any way gender nonconformist kid they might come across. I fail to see how this is damaging society.

Re: What is something you think about too much?

I think too much about the negative social situations in my life despite having a good amount of positive ones as well (more actually). I think too much about what I could do to make money on a passion (unproductively). I worry too much about possible dangers. I mull too much on my to-do list. I wor...

It wasn't a total eclipse here but I was able to watch it through some viewing glasses my coworker brought in. It was really cool! Glad I got the chance.

Re: what's the last movie you saw?

Finally saw Logan. I'm not sure what I think. I enjoyed the movie mostly but I felt like they departed so much from the usual format and characterisations that I wasn't actually watching a wolverine movie? It was like they wanted the feel of Shane and completely ignored all previous character develo...

Re: Most distinctive job interview?

The worst job interview I had was for I think an office job at a security guard company. It was right out of school basically so I was applying for anything that even vaguely resembled my degree. They called in the morning and wanted to set up an interview for that afternoon. No problem, I'm unemplo...

Re: bad reasons for having a baby

- Baby shoes are cute
- We have extra rooms
- To finally be allowed to have an opinion on all the ridiculous things people say you "just won't understand until you have a kid" (my personal favourite: spanking/hitting kids)

Btw we do plan on having kids, lol. We have better reasons too.

Re: Rape culture doesn't exist

I challenge you to ask the women in your life that unwanted touching question if you really think it's about shoulders. In an informal survey of women I've known who have ever been to a busy party, a club, or on packed public transit I think the number is closer to 100%. And I'm talking clear, on pu...

Re: Just Can't Let It Go

Ugh, people who think their own brain is infallible drive me nuts. People forget things, because people are people. Omg. My biggest challenge is the antivax thing. There is someone in my family (an intelligent educated person who I care about) who believes her childs autism was caused by vaccines. I...
