Re: Valentine's day is a waste, right?

Valentine's day is all kinds of bullshit(to us). We always jointly decide to not celebrate(kind of goes without saying these days). Also S.O's birthday is the day before so, we're already doing stuff together around that time and it seems redundant. What I WILL do this year, however, is hand out val...

Are there no other vegetarians on this board anymore? :-O

I love a crispy TLT(smoked tofu, lettuce & tomato) sandwich with some avocado and pickle. Grilled cheese is delicious as well(when I am not being vegan).

OP: I don't think anyone on this forum would argue that sexism directed at men doesn't exist and isn't harmful.

Please stop trying to play oppression olympics, it's very tiresome.

Re: favorite 90s movie

Too many goodies to choose from and lots that could be added to the list as well. As I grew up in the 90s I am extremely partial to mostly all of these movies. Fargo definitely needs to be there...Being John Malkovich, Powder, Fear & Loathing, Empire Records, Disturbing Behaviour(and other shitty te...

Re: A topic for the masses

It's excellent that rape culture is getting so much attention. I still feel like the naysayers/trolls are leading the conversation at this time, but at least it IS a conversation people are having. I would like to see mainstream coverage of The Bechdel test/tv tropes. I am soooo tired of the smurfet...

I am really sorry you are in so much pain. At this point you should consider seeking further medical attention. It is concerning that you have never suffered from something like this before.

Re: Orange is the new black

I am two episodes in and I am enjoying it so far. I wasn't overly fond of the first episode, but the second one redeemed it a bit for me. I will continue watching and see what it has to offer. I am hoping for some political commentary on the industrial prison complex, but I kinda doubt that will be ...

Re: swim lessons?

I learned to swim by being tossed into the water as a baby. This was my mom's method for getting us all to swim. We are definitely a water-loving family. Some of my earliest memories are of being in our friend's pool, with my mom saying "kick your feet, kick your feet, kick your feet", directing me ...

I put age 15 as I had a large abscess in my tooth and had to have a triple route canal. I guess an abscess is only potentially fatal, but boy am I ever glad for modern dentistry( even though it costs a fortune).

Re: Your Favourite Feminist TV Show?

For anyone who has seen more of them, are there woman-centered shows that depict women in a feminist mode? Does Sex in the City or Desperate Housewives do this? Are there shows centered on women where traditionally feminine activities are not the focus? 2 Broke Girls. I thought about adding it if p...

Sick of people spouting off annoying denials about global warming?

Saw this posted on Pharyngula originally: 174 responses to Climate Change Skeptics. The responses are one liners which can be expanded to paragraphs, each response links to citations. Yay.

Usually when someone proudly proclaims they get along better with men as if it is some accolade, it's very hard for me not to immediately dismiss them as someone I want nothing to do with(or feel extremely sorry for them). There is something about wanting to be the exceptional woman which just turns...

*nods* I report those annoying little kids on Xbox live all the time. The few girls I've gamed with usually spoke about getting hit on, so that was always my assumption, but my forays into 4Chan have demonstrated just how misogynistic these tech savvy teens can be. And stupid... gods the stupid bur...

Her claiming any degree of sexism and thus misrepresenting the series is what people are mad about with her. From everyone I've asked, they'd all be okay with making a video focusing on positive female role models... This reaction is disingenious because if you have been following this project, whi...

I would hardly call Sarkeesian an extremist, but I would consider this to be one of her weakest videos. On a semi-related note, I am saddened that we seem to be removing references to smoking out of Xmas music.
