Re: What is male privilege?

@Taurwen Edited: Im from baltimore, MD. but live in the county now. Its a city thats part of racial discussion in america partly due to riots, police corruption and brutality. Its not all bad but its a little rough around the edges. Often called B-more, Bodymore, or Bodymore Murdaland by natives. Hi...

Re: What is male privilege?

@taurwen I sometimes think people dont give jail enough credit as being a punishment to Criminals and non criminals. Its also much worse if your innocent and in jail. Jail also is where that nature of men I referred to in previous posts runs rampant. Its not equated to domestic violence or rape beca...

Re: What is male privilege?

Well the main gripe about putting the seat down is women have a tendancy to fall in. Dont ask me. I've always been puzzled about how one doesnt look before sitting down. I mean guys have to sit as well eventually and its never been a problem. Its "good manners"? to make sure you put it down for the ...

Re: What is male privilege?

@meisbells Well it starts as an ideal or allowance. Sticking to the dont "hit" girls, and spreads to dont talk to a lady that way, lets her go to the bathroom first, hold the door, put the toilet seat down etc etc etc. There are literallly thousands upon thousands of scenarios where gender applies t...

Re: What is male privilege?

The thing I hear most when people talk about female privilege is protectionism based: first on lifeboats, unarmed service, requiring an escort, "don't hit girls" instead of being told simply not to hit. When looked at closely, protectionism is oppression. Men trying to develope a social structure t...

@Sonic Good examples. Suprised by the nursing one. @topic Question. What do you believe people mean when they say "female priviledge"? And.. With white priviledge being the highest of priviledges. Discrimination amongst men vs mens discrimantion of women. Could you entertain the possibility that a m...

Re: What is male privilege?

First, there were several facts I found dubious, but I really had to double-check this one: When I see men earning more money than women in equivalent positions, men in more lucrative positions, men receiving more promotions to management, men having higher rates of success at negotiation, men bein...

Re: What is male privilege?

Well that link was a tall order. Many many points made about priviledge and as a male reading that. My response is a bit harsh. As stated before. Women are never satisfied. I did see some good points bout out of hundreds of things listed only about 12 or so I found so be legit and not stereotypical ...

What is male privilege?

If the term "male priviledge" directly means seats of power are filled by men, then perhaps a different term should be used. Upon hearing it, in some males it incites a bitter response, especially in middle class and below for good reason. Its too broad sounding a term. Male privlidge vs white privi...

Re: what's the last movie you saw?

I saw Death Wish recently. I really liked the movie but, other than the fact of the hero being a vigilante, it was nothing like the Charles Bronson movies where he just runs through bad guys. Very watchable though. The good ending is entirely unbelievable. Pretty much your standard action flick. Don...

Re: what's your favorite skin care product?

Eucerin with the blue top, not the white. I have psoriasis so this is my go to instead of lotion. My psoriasis slowly gets worse every few months but this stuff makes it bearable and not dry. I need and use this stuff everyday. Of course its not curing anything but helps me hide it well for now.

I kind of miss our debates on issues but I really haven't had anything worth debating or just posting as of late. Again thank you all and I hope everyone is good health and life is treating you well.

Ive been in quite a lot of car accidents. Ive been responsible for 3 minor accidents which mostly tore up my bumper while the other car recieved either no damage or a broken tailight and or scuffed bumper. Its a rancher type house. My wife and I live in the basement apartment. So pretty much almost everything we had. Managed to save some clothes, my playstation, and 1 pair of shoes. Well I've seen this on thenews countless times. Finally it hit home. Been one of those crappy but blessed at the same time months. Long story short, sub pump failure, foot and some inches water, and we lost about 75% of our stuff. Luckily insurance is going to cover it due to the sub pump being a pe...

Re: How does one become an activist?

All sounds like good advice. I'll look into and read suggestions. I think the toastmasters idea is a great idea. My public speaking is shakey at best until I get going. I suppose joining current causes is the best way to eventually be heard. Start off with local groups. As much as I dislike current ...

How does one become an activist?

I've given a lot of thought to the purpose of my life. I figure my purpose could be small like giving someone else inspiration to be great or, an epic self challenge which leads to change. I have found things in life to fight for. I've read and scoured the internet for like minded individuals. Looki...

Re: Have you ever pretended you don't know something?

I can think of a couple ways I play dumb. The most used is at work. I see truck drivers from all over the country. Occasionally a truck driver will start talking racially. He'll go out of his way to describe just how non racist he is. I kind of tune out the conversation after that. With whatever he'...
