Re: Toys that make noises

I always give my cousins really messy toys... this year was a lip-balm making kit and a chemistry kit!

Very small nephew (2), his parents requested a noisy toy rhino thing.. it terrified me, even after I wrapped it up and put it under the xmas tree it kept talking!

Re: Why do you live where you do?

I was born in this city.. and although I've moved around many cities I keep coming back- my Partner has a job here, healthcare is free, and now I have a job here! I moved 15 miles north of the area I grew up in- because I couldn't afford to live in the same area as my parents and it is nearer my wor...

Re: Find me something worse than...

When I lived in Berkshire in the UK I was sensitive to the tap water- it was really hard water and really crappy old water pipes. Came out in a rash everytime I showered. Moved to Ecuador and took to bathing in river water- no problems! Oh yikes. Were you ok drinking it? When I was small and we liv...

Re: do you clean with sponges?

Yes. And they get microwaved periodically to kill germs. though putting them in the dishwasher is a good idea, might steal that!

Also plan on trying to grow my own luffa next year, so I'll be growing sponges on trees!

Re: post up your holiday shopping/wish lists - grownup edition

I want a kiln, however even though I could save up and afford one- the cost is too scary, so instead I'm getting bits to make one for xmas. I've just given family members links or referred them to specific shops.. they'll probably be shocked when what arrives is some angle-iron steel and some steel ...

Re: What do you drive?

Umm.. I mostly walk.. but when I do drive, its a Honda Jazz. It's really old, and dented, and one of the doors has been replaced after someone tried to drive through me- so it's a different colour. And its done 150K miles, and makes a funny noise when you go round a left hand corner, but it passed t...

Re: Do you get along with your neighbors?

The neighbours whose house is attached to mine- they are fine. even though in the past 3 years I've made lots of noise drilling shared walls at ridiculous hours and whatnot. He gives me his veg peelings for my chickens. The other neighbour, whose house is not attached to mine- is a massive pain. She...

Whilst at work- constantly, work email at least. Personal email whilst at work.. probably 2 or 3 times a day. Outside of work... hardly ever, maybe once a week? Basically if I'm on vacation- email is not the way to get hold of me.

Re: Are you happy with your battery life?

I have a non-smart-phone, so the battery lasts a fortnight! And even then It goes flat because I forget to charge it. My laptop battery is awful, but that is because something is wrong in the power-save settings, and I can't work out how to fix it. Ironically this is the 'new' laptop that was purcha...

Re: How is your garden growing?

Wow, Charli! That is fantastic! How did you make your raised beds? I think I'd like to do some of those. They're made from decking-planks (the diy store was selling them off in winter because they'd gotten wet and were all warped, so they were really cheap!). Screwed to some stakes made out of bits...

Meringue! Cos I have lots of eggs to use. I did intend to use the yolks to then make an awesome omelette- but had a minor accident (there's currently two bicycles and a load of scaffolding stuff stored in the kitchen).. and the egg yolks went on the floor. so I had cheese on crackers for dinner, but...

I've just started watching 'sons of Anarchy' (yes, I'm about a decade behind everyone else). Not overly impressed... its well written but the storylines still drive me insane (how can characters be so clever about some things, yet so incredibly dense and stupid about other things!). People at work c...

Watch. I have 'flik-flak' kids watches, the older ones have aluminium cases and are completely waterproof- the only watch that ever lives up to the abuse I throw at them. And they're only £20 or so. And they come in really cool styles, my current watch has dinosaurs on, and my new one for xmas has t...
