posting pictures of kids and privacy

It's been well over a year since I read it, but I'm still thinking about this old NPR article on regard for children's privacy when posting pictures online . Basically parents claimed that they weren't overstepping boundaries with what they posted on-line, but their kids felt differently and that so...

Re: How much time does it take you to get dressed?

Usually, moments, but today was my first day at a position where I had little idea of what the work entailed and no notification of a dress code. Eventually, I learned that jeans is appropriate work attire in Finland in pretty much all circumstances one isn't expected to wear a suit.

Only 3 years? I keep thinking that you joined about a month after I did. Thanks for being here. I thought about getting you a mummified wall cat, but decided against it in favor of a witch bottle for your protection. I hope you're here for many years to come. https://s14-eu5.startpage.com/cgi-bin/se...

I know I'm super late, but I think you're super great and I would be sad to miss out on giving you some lichen.

Crippling despair isn't the same as lazy. But other people don't necessarily care.

Canada, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, US (couldn't visit until I stopped living there), Germany, France, Russia, Denmark, Portugal, Spain

I never expected to have been so many places, but it doesn't feel much different than traveling between States in the U.S.

I'm envious of your kid. I've got my hands on the first two Tiffany Aching books about this time last year. Libraries do better at sharing where we moved to, so I'm hoping I can find more Pratchett in English.

I've never tried huitlacoche, but I accidentally grew it. At the time I was misinformed about what it was so got rid of all the infected corn before getting to eat the deliciousness.

Re: Dogs.

That puppy looks so much like my dog when she was an actual puppy. At 8 years old, she has stayed very energetic but lost her eye spots somewhere along the way. I've done a couple of the agility obstacles with my dog (tunnel and jumps). "Jump" ended up being a more useful command than I anticipated ...

I don't have any recommendations to add, but I wouldn't give "Feminism is for Everybody" to a bunch of conservative white Christian women. I think the chapter on religion could cause them to turn on the rest of the book.

Re: what kind of vacuum cleaner do you have?

^There are some places around the house that look like covered outlets. When I walked around trying to count them just now, I found 5. When you open up the cover, it switches on and starts the suction. A tube is plugged into the socket and they all collect in the same place in the basement. There's ...

I used to pass those on walks when I lived in a city! Well, a store that had them in the window.

The place we moved to has a central vacuuming system which freaks me out a bit. But not as much as the old flue vacuum that sparks when we use it.

I went back and reread the article linked to in the original post and the Grace story because I don't really follow how we got here. I initially didn't read the article as addressing the Grace story, but instead using it as an illustration of different perceptions of the same event and how that rela...

Re: Hey so that was terrifying

I don't understand the culture that makes it so that I've known multiple people who were hit by cars as pedestrians with the right of way, in a cross walk, at a red light. Here people tease me for being overly cautious about crossing streets, and I have yet to stop being amazing by the cars that sto...

Re: do you knock down spider webs?

I am very fond of spiders. They're spinners, they're weavers, they're tricksters, they're excellent pest control, they remind me that femininity does equal bad-ass, and that's just to get started. I'm happy to see them in my living space, but their whims of web placement don't always match my whims ...

It is ALWAYS more moral to be honest than to be dishonest, even if your life is at risk. Not intending to cause a tangent, I didn't realize you were a Kantian in the realm of ethics. I found the original post a bit unclear, I decided to take it in the way that Sonic proposes we consider agency So e...

Re: What games have you played lately?

If I'm allowed to include games from a few months ago like Neko, we played a lot of "Nuns on the Run" in the U.S. The movement of the players, except the guards, is made unseen. Then people roll for noise with modifiers based on how quickly they were moving, and noises are indicated to the guards, a...
