Re: what are you reading?

On Pluto: Inside the Mind of Alzheimer's by Greg O'Brien. Okay, technically I haven't started reading it yet. But my mom-type wants me to read it before she gives it to her friend so there it is, sitting on the coffee table, staring at me in an accusing way while it taps its watch.

Re: what temperature do you set your space?

I only run the AC in summer when it gets above 85 or so. In winter, I like to keep things at a cozy 72, minimum. I'm happiest at 73. I ran super hot for years with undiagnosed Graves' disease so I justify it by telling myself I've got some leeway on the carbon footprint thing.

Re: If you were a piece of furniture what would you be?

I would be that ratty little table you got for $7.00 at a rummage sale, that you refinished, that turned out to be totally gorgeous, so you took it to Antiques Roadshow and they said it would be worth thirteen million dollars in original condition, but since you refinished it, it turns out to only b...

I took a Model Mugging course in Boston back in the '80s. It was very intense, but very empowering. They're still in business, but only in certain areas. Worth a google!

Re: What animals are you afraid of?

Spiders, also from seeing a scene from a movie on TV when I was really young. Except in my case the movie was "Tarantula." Because I am old. I can still see that giant bristly leg crashing in through the ceiling. Hairy spiders cause me to make that visceral animal sound of fear. I'm okay with daddy ...

Re: When are you superstitious?

I muttered "please be an igglybuff" at several points during my 2km Pokémon Go egg's incubation cycle, and it hatched into an igglybuff, so I did that with my mind. Wait, you have to do that during the incubation cycle? I've only been doing it during the actual hatching. Well that explains the lack...

Re: What do you hate to peel?

1. The sticker that my local dump makes me stick directly on the outside of the car window because god forbid I should merely TAPE it to the window from the inside so it will be easier to peel off next year. 2. Price tags that just won't come off. Or those little gold oval "Made in China" stickers b...

Re: have you had surgery?

Appendectomy, removal of a knife tip from the bone in the top of my foot (now there's a story), wisdom teeth, thyroidectomy, which is too a word, spellcheck, dammit, and lasik eye surgery. Which didn't feel very surgical, to be honest, but it IS called "surgery" so I'm totally counting it.

If postage doesn't count, a felting needle. Heavy-duty ultra-precision toenail/cuticle scissors. For paper snowflake cutting. We're very serious about our paper snowflakes around here. Have yous seen this snowflake folding thread ? I hadn't seen that thread but it's spot on as far as six-sided snow...

I'd love to see some bruces if you still have them? I still have them somewhere in a box marked "FRAGILE DEAD THINGS!" I don't have any recent images, but here's a little compilation I did ages ago (you asked!): http://loveofbruce.blogspot.com/ I also remember there was a post where Comic Sans Bruc...

Where do I sign? I want a robot who'll do all the real-life social interaction for me so I never have to worry about being a totally awkward freak ever again. Also I'd like it to be able to do household chores. One requirement however is that it must be programmed to laugh at my jokes. It would be g...
