Summer Solstice

Post by sisehtopyh » Wed Jun 21, 13:20 2017

Today is my birthday, cool right? Being born on the longest day of the year is nifty.

Except I want to go out for dinner for my birthday... and I mostly follow a vegan diet. Guess which fucking weirdos like to celebrate the solstice? If you guessed vegans, you'd be right. So despite it being a Wednesday, I'm having difficulty getting a dinner reservation. Looks like I'll cook for myself tonight.

Dang that sucks! We have so many places here I think you'd be able to. Celebrate tomorrow?

And happy birthday!

That would be such a drag, not being able to get reservations for your birthday dinner! Especially on a Wednesday, I would think that would be an easy day. Bummer. Would ordering in be an option?

Hopefully, your dinner at home will be fun and enjoyable!
Bork is too lazy to bother thinking up a witty signature. :polarbear:

I convinced my husband to get me takeout from a vegan food truck, so he'll wait in the weird summer solstice lines and I can just relax at home :-)

I must have lost my vegan membership, no idea solstice was a thing for us weirdos. Around here, everyone disappears into the countryside for midsummer. Most businesses are closed and the cities are eerily empty. So you still might not get that reservation. I have no idea if restaurants are places that stay open on the holiday.

I hope your food was delicious. Happy birthday.

Haha thanks - I wound up eating from a great NYC food truck called the cinnamon snail. :-)

I think it is really only a thing for a small number of vegan weirdos, but there's a pretty large population of vegans/vegetarians in NYC. It seems to be enough that I couldn't get a dinner reservation at any reasonable hour.
