What happens to you without caffeine?
Rowan had a poll about how much coffee one drinks. What happens if you wake up in the morning and you don't drink coffee or a caffeinated drink because you don't have any?

Re: What happens to you without caffeine?
Ok, no joke. Pouring cereal in my juice (actually it was the reverse of pouring juice on my cereal) happened to me once in college. I grabbed a carton of orange juice and poured it on my frosted flakes.
Being the poor college student, rather than pour myself a new bowl, I said "fuck it", drained what juice I could into the sink, and poured milk instead. It was like eating a crunchy, melted orange creamsicle. So not too bad (won't do it again though).

Re: What happens to you without caffeine?
I get a caffeine withdrawal headache, as we'l as having my usual morning sleepiness take longer to shake off. I've learned I can break the habit in about four (painful) days, but as long as I have to be at work earlier than I want (ie always), I'm going to stay addicted.
Re: What happens to you without caffeine?
When I'm only at 1 cup a day I don't really get side effects of skipping, but like octarineoboe, I have a hard time keeping to just 1 cup.
If I have coffee after 3pm though I stay awake all night so that's not good either. hah. There's a narrow window of coffee in my life (but it is so delicioussss)

I drink coffee because I like it more so than because I need it to stay awake. I prefer a warm drink in the morning in general but it could be a hot chocolate or coffee, doesn't matter. However, when I regularly drink more than three cups I get a headache if I don't get my first cup within 1.5 hours of waking up.
However, at the height of my addiction I was also swallowing about 20+ advil a day (In hindsight that job wasn't great for my health. In all fairness, the damage to my liver done by painkillers was probably offset by the fact that I'm not, and never have been a big drinker.) So the major headaches I experienced cutting down were just a much worse variation of my normal. In the recent past it's a headache, and I notice it but it's not unbearable.

So long as I crank up the water intake, I really don't get much in the way of caffeine withdraw.
It's a big world, and it never stays the same.

I seem to have a lot less patience and I don't put things together as quickly, both of which are bad since my job requires a shit-ton of patience and thinking on my feet.
Bork is too lazy to bother thinking up a witty signature.

Re: What happens to you without caffeine?
I get blinding headaches, which means I don't drink a lot of caffeine ever now. I stick to coke because it's hard for me to overcaffeinate on that stuff but it does have the right amount of oomph to keep me awake in the mornings.
Ugh, I'm tired of my signature.

I initially interpreted that incorrectly. In my defense, that interpretation makes just as much sense in context!Nachos wrote:I get blinding headaches, which means I don't drink a lot of caffeine ever now. I drink it every day, but I'm actually still fairly alert, even energetic, and not really grumpy if I don't drink it first thing. However, I will tire a lot earlier as the day goes on. My focus is even more abysmal than usual, though. If I'm in a lecture setting, even if it's something I'm super interested in and/or actively chose to attend, there's a very good chance I will become so tired that not nodding off is a conscious struggle. I don't get any withdrawal symptoms!

I usually don't get headaches. Usually I'm fine through the morning and tend to tire out by the afternoon. I also notice that my attention is good enough to teach but not good enough to, say, sit reading articles for a couple of hours or write a sustained piece.

I mean I know how much caffiene is in everything I drink. If I wanted to I could be scientific about my consumption.
I drink a little in the morning and less later on.
There should be warnings on energy drinks about the side effects. idfk
