I try not to say no outright unless it's dangerous. I try to find a middle ground or make the person improve on their idea without outright denying them. It can be tricky...

Yeah I try to explore the idea with the person and see what they know and what I know. Is the idea good short term, long term. If something is obviously wrong and needs a clear concise "no" sometimes it's hard depending on the person and who they are to you.

Definitely done so, only after I hear their inputs because you never know how reasonable it will sound.
