Impulse buys, mostly. There's a store in town called Ye Olde Goat. They have antiques as well but I go for the upcycled stuff and barn lumber.

For something specific, I check if someone I know can take a commission. For instance, I wanted to try sleeping under a weighted blanket to help with anxiety. It was about the same price for my friend to make it as it would be to buy it on etsy. (It was worth it. This thing is fucking amazing.)

Rarely, I have a fair amount of crafty skills so I can never justify buying anything I can make myself. Whether i actually end up making it is another story though.

I like to get handmade artwork, in whatever medium. Outside of that, whenever the quality is reasonable and it looks cool. I'll sometimes get handmade notebooks or paper.
